We have had the VW Bus for 5 years. I have painted it 3 times so far. Everytime I think it's right some new rust shows up. Remember it's 36 years old.
The bottom of both passenger doors are finally getting to the point they are going to have to be replaced. I have been looking for some for the last 3 years. They are hard to find that aren't rusted out. I found some in Arizonia but they wanted 850.00 a piece with no hardware. That didn't include the shipping. Needless to say I kept looking.
There is a VW site very much like this one that I follow and the other day another VW owner was looking for some parts and someone reccomended a guy from Valriea,Fl, who had a field full of old busses. I called the number and he had some with minor rust. He sent pictures and they looked like what I was looking for The rust was on the inside and not the usual bottom of the doors, so I figured it was worth a trip to look.
Paris and Susie loaded up in the Bus and we took off.
