Our big Screen TV is 9 years old now and we are thinking about a new flat screen. Presently all of our components are sitting on top of the TV which Susie dislikes. I have been looking online for a new component rack, so all the Amps,CD players, Sat receiver, and Cassett Players have some where to sit without looking out of place. I wanted the metal look open, Susie wanted the wood look with doors.

I had picked out one that was around $ 500.00 and was considering ordering it. Then one morning we were riding about the neighbor hood in the golf cart and we spotted a single component unit sitting on the side of a driveway, to be hauled off with the next days trash. It was too heavy for the golf cart, so Susie stood guard while I went home and got the VW Bus. We didn't realize in the beginning that we were actually going to use it, we just picked it up for the painted furniture business. As soon as we got it home we realized it was perfect for what we needed.

The project was on. This would allow me to rewire the whole system like it would be when we replaced the big old fashion TV. Now when it's time to change TV's all the work is already done.

We have a southwestern theme in the main area which allowed us to easily convert the piece to our taste.

The first day we picked it up, it did not have any shelves and one of the rollers on the bottom was missing. No big deal, I could fix them both. The very next day on our daily ride around the neighbor hood there were the shelves and the roller we were missing. It was meant to be.

This is where it will sit.

We will gain a lot of roomwith the new flat screen.

With the TV gone and the picture removed you can see how sleek it will look.

One of our favorite things is the scene up at the top which just happens to be lighted. We put it on a timer and it comes on automatically in the evening.

I did not want the surround speakers on the wall, so I moved them to an area above the TV and drilled thru the studs and put the wires in the wall behind the divider. I still have to hid the main wires from the new TV once I know where they will be, but for now most of the hard wiring is done and clean looking

When the flat screen is in place, this is the side you will see. Susie loves southwestern pots.

The large rubber rollers make it easy to rotate out for any wiring changes or cleaning. I think this was as they say ( Quite A Find ).

This was a fun project and now all we have to do is wait for the old TV to die.
