This was the last night after we ate, so we took this picture with some of closest friends we had met.

Partying on the rail side was one of the most fun things on the trip. just sitting out in the boonies having a good time.

This was most evenings before we went out to eat. Sitting around someones rig, listening to their life stories from all over the United states. Of course the cocktails helped us along. As you can see in the background I was getting quite a tan.

This is the last picture of the Copper Canyon trip. It's a terrible picture of me but it's probably how it really was. Your friends can always catch you at your weakest times. It definitely describes how we lived on the Baja.

Sitting in the sun, probably drinking Tequila if it was your thing, and smoking Cigars. That suited me fine. It seemed to suit everyone else.

Probably the best trip we will ever take in our RV. 27 days of unusual fun and sites.
Susie and I enjoyed having you along with us and hope if it's your dream that you get the chance to take a trip like this and it happens for you like it did for us.

Next week we are leaving for the Kentucky Derby. It's our first time, so it will be a good treat.

We have a new GPS and it's already programmed. Can't wait to try it out. Susie has her new hat for the Derby and is looking for one for Paris. We'll take you on the tour when we get back.
If I had known that I would have been posting on this site, in later years, I would have paid a lot more attention to detail on my photo's.

All in all I think we gave you a pretty good summary of what you could expect.

We found out today that this trip is no longer available via loading your RV on the flat bed train cars.
The train company sites safety as the reason for being discontinued.
Tracks To Adventure will still offer the trip.
It will be a modified version.
They will start the trip the same as before except instead of going to the train yard to load the RV's, they will continue to Creel,Mx. The attendees will leave their RV's there and take a bus trip to the Copper Canyon. They will tour the Copper Canyon and spend the night in a hotel. The next day they will take the passenger train thru the Canyon and back to their motorhomes.
It will still be a great trip but not the adventure of riding your RV for 5 days on a rail car and stopping at night, staying on the rail-side, in the towns and out in the country.

Has anyone tried this trip since they changed the rules and will not allow the RV on the Flat Rail Cars?

If so give us a report.

A lot of the scenery posted in the last few posts were from our trip on the Copper Canyon Railroad.

If you have never seen the full trip, it is worth your time.

It was 27 days and left from El Paso,Tx and returned thru Tijuana,Mx.

We loaded our RV on a flat bed rail car and traveled thru the Copper Canyon for 5 days, stopping over night sometimes near towns and other times in the mountains.

Probably out most exciting trip the whole time we RVed.

It has since been discontinued via RV. You can still take the train to the Copper Canyon.

Comments Welcome

I got a request the other day to post this trip again. It was and still was the best trip the whole time we RVed.

We almost didn't take the trip because of the expense. It was $6500 for 27 days in 1999. At the time the stock market was rolling and the NASDAQ was at it's peak. We said why not, we are on the road, we have the money and later we may never get the chance

When we look at the stock market today and the price of fuel, what a great decision.

Take the trip with us.
