Cowboy Capitol of the World

These recreation's of the pictures that go with these posts are a little harder than I thought. I just did one on the Alamo and thought the Bandera pictures went with it. Now I am finding a post on Bandera by itself. There are some good stories with this post so I will attach the pictures again

Hi Everyone, made it back from the Tampa RV Show. We had 8 rigs from the group there. The first two days were excellent, weather wise and then came the rain, which put a damper on our socializing. We didn't get to spend as much time with all of our friends as we wanted to but that leaves next time, which is always good.

It appears if you are thinking about RVing, you need to start asking for a raise now. They are getting expensive. It used to be for $ 135,000 you could get a nice Diesel Pusher. Now it is more like $220.000 to $ 320.000 and that is for the mid grade luxury. If you want to go with the big boys $ 1.1 million to $ 1.85 million. When we went back to our rig it sure was looking good.

Our pick for the show was a Damon ( Gas) 37 ft. It had two lounge chairs in the back bed room plenty of room,26 in. LCD with a French door, glass and wood inserts, separating the bath. Plenty of room in the bath and living room. Two slides. Retail $119.000 and was on sale for $ 102.000. It looked like a Diesel Pusher on the inside, and was pretty outside also. We told one of our friends about it and they said the only draw back was CCC, it would only carry 2000 pounds, but if you are only playing and not fultiming that's OK.

Anyway back to Bandera

They had a big Crawdad party while we were there and we got to check out the cowboys in action.

They had a lot of food and the crowd was very Texan, except for a few Rver's sneaking in.

Of course the favorite for everyone who likes to party was the Cowboy Bar. Now being from Va originally, which probably is the highest regulated ABC state in the 50, we were shocked that you could not buy whiskey in the bar. They had beer and wine, But you could go to the ABC store and buy whiskey, say a pint, put it in your back pocket, enter the bar and they would furnish the set ups, so you could mix your own. I knew there was a reason we would like Texas.

Other than the ceiling being covered with used bra's Susie kind of liked the place. There also was a nice collection of boots on the outside as well as inside. She puts up with these places only because I say they are part of the experience.

Bandera is only 30 some miles outside of San Antonio. Plenty of campsites available. While there, head for Fredicksburg if you are a shopper, they have some neat shops there. You could easily do the River walk from here. I do remember they have some tough one way streets in San Antonio. Probably one of the hardest towns to maneuver in that we encountered.

After a few trips to Texas and Mexico, I figured I would equip myself with the proper attire so if I ever went to a Texas Bar again.

This is a picture of my Viet Nam friend and myself from Dandridge, Tenn. He is a real cowboy and I am just a look alike, but wouldn't I look mean with a set of 45's strapped on, instead of a cell phone.
