While we were staying in El Paso, we rode the Border road to downtown on the Harley. We were itching to go into Juarez but was a little hesitant because of the danger.
We met a local who lived in El Paso with his family and used to live in Juarez who drove a cab. We asked how much he would charge us to go over for 4 hours. We wanted to buy some Moxazillian, some alligator boots and wanted to go to an old original Mexican Bar to drink some beer. $25.00 for 4 hours. What a deal. We set it up for the next day and took the trip.
Here's main street.

The first stop was at the pharmacy. We got 100, 500 milligram Moxicillian ( excuse the spelling) for $9.95. We asked if there would be any problem getting them back across the Border. No problem, throw them in the trunk. Then we went to find the Alligator boots. Illegal for them to sell them. That was surprising for Juarez. We thought anything goes there.
When we went to the boot shop, the owner showed me a pair of Iguana boots. They were as pretty as alligator. He had every size already made up. This is the pair I brought. Every time I wear them everyone always says, where did you get those boots.
We have two hours left to find a bar.

We found an old authentic Mexican bar, which included a running water trough at the bottom of the bar that still worked. They don't use it today but in the old days they never left the bar to go to the bathroom. I had heard of these before from some of my service friends and really wanted Susie to see it for herself because she didn't believe it existed. Behind the bartender was one of those real fancy wooden antique Bars. I'll bet today it would cost in the thousands to replicate it. Beautiful
Our driver and I started drinking beer and Susie drank her usual Margaritas. Time flew and by the time we looked at our watch, we had been in town 6 hours. Susie had drilled him for all the knowledge he had on his family, the town, their customs, and who knows what.
We said sorry for the delay and just knew we were going to get the real Juarez charges for the extra time. When we got back to the border and thru the check points, with out a hitch, I asked how much we owed. He said $25.00 just like I said. We said that we knew we had taken more than the original agreement and didn't feel right keeping him over there for nothing. He said he had really enjoyed the day and I was buying the beer and we were interesting people and we didn't owe him anything extra. We thanked him and gave him the original $ 25.00 and a $ 15.00 tip and all were happy. He was a nice guy and made us feel at home and safe. What a good day.
