Death Valley is like no other area you will go in, Even though it is desert, it is different from Arizona, Palm Desert, and others simliar. We went thru in June. Bad decision, but we were in Vegas for a wedding and we wanted to see Yosemite while being that close. It was 120 degrees at 10:00 in the AM. We had a pretty good size grade to pull first thing in the morning, which was about 10 miles up. Our diesel had never heated on any grades if we had the rpm right for the climb. It was so hot that when we went 2 miles the temperture was at 200. Before the alarm went off we pulled off the side, went to netural, increased the rpm's and with in 15 seconds we were back at normal temperture. We took off again and in two miles same thing. It took us five tries to get up the mountain at a safe temperture. Never had the trouble before and never since. It was Hot ,Hot, Hot., but fun and interesting. Check out the scenery.

Isn't this scenery awesome?
Believe it or not, there is a camp ground in the middle of death valley. It's a little small area with a store across the street. Rough dirt road access, with large holes, right off the road. When we went across the road to check out the store, we found a fully equipped gourmet restaurant with every kind of beer made including imports. We couldn't believe it. That night I had, Get This, Potato Encrusted Lamb Chops, and they were as good as I had ever had. In fact it was the first time I had ever had them, but I know what they were supposed to taste like. Right?

John, You have been posting pictures from all over North America. How many miles do you put on in a year? You are one, busy traveler. Dennis Codella codelld@yahoo.com

Dennis,
We sold our house in 98 and went full time for 3 years. We did the outer coast line all the way around the U.S. the first year. The second year we rambled thru all the middle states. The third year we went to Mexico for 27 days and then on up to Canada starting at B.C. and working out way to Winnepeg. We came back into the U.S. near Grand Forks, N.D. and took in some fine Sprint car racing. We did all 46 states, excluding Hawaii and Alaska. We had already flown to Hawaii earlier and just recently got back from a Alaska trip. So now we have doneum all.
While traveling ,we fell in love with Northern Florida and in 2001 built a new house in an area called the Hammock. It's filled with giant Live Oaks.
Now we are busy with the new house and all the new things to do here. We kept the RV for later travels because we didn't finish Eastern Canada, especially Fundi Bay.
We were supposed to sell the RV because our house money was in it when we came off the road, but the interest rates got so low we figured we would try to do both. So far so good. We almost went down with everyone else that was in the market but we are still making it.
We did a total of 50,000 miles on the rv, 29,000 on the bug, and 18,000 on the Harley. It was a great trip and we were young enough to enjoy all that was out there, including climbing Bell Rock in Sedona .
Here's a couple of pictures of our new hang out. It's a great area. It gets cool here for 2 months of the year but most of the time you can wear shorts. We wanted some cool weather because my wife has a lot of leather outfits for riding the Harley and if we went too far south she wouldn't get to use them.

Remoting the RV site to the big screen TV to look at the posts.

Sometimes when we have company it is easier to send the computer screen to the big TV so everyone doesn't have to stand around the computer.
