Here's some pictures of us traveling back from Cabo San Lucas to Tejuana. The Baja is very mountainous in the lower parts. The roads are very narrow and many times there is little or no shoulder. The drop offs can be from 6 inches, to 4 feet, to 2 miles. Make sure you have really good tires when you travel these roads for there is little room to change them on the side of the road.
It is a 1000 miles from the Tejuana border to Cabo San Lucas.
There was a overloaded Mexican truck trying to make one of the passes, doing around 4 1\2 mph. We took the inside lane and tried to pass. He had the outside and it must have been a two mile drop off the side. With my eyes glued to my lane, it was a right hand curve and you could see the loops up above with no traffic. My wife growned a couple of times but I didn't have time to check why. After the pass she said the truck was so close it was like he was on our glass. It was a green truck and when we got to the camp ground and were walking around the rig we had green paint on the awning arms. That's close, with no damage.
