This was the Black Widow that we towed for 3 years. When we started we had 12k miles on it since we built it in 89. We had 83k on it when we returned. Since we did 44k on the MH,ie 83-12+44=27k that was our runaround miles for the bug. We only had three problems with it the whole trip. A rear wheel bearing in Mountain Home, Id, a clutch in Washington St. and a bad voltage regulator in Durango,Co. I thought that was pretty good for something that was 33 years old at the trips end. It is a 1968 model, of course it has a lot of modifications.

After we returned from our trip we decided to settle in Flagler Beach, Florida. We built a new home in the Hammock area. It was time to redo the bug because of the road wear. Since we lived near Daytona Beach we decided on a beach look. It only took us a week to redo it and here it is.
This was one of the reasons we wanted a house, so we could have a garage to work in. This picture was taken on the Atlantic Ocean in Hammock, Fl. about a mile from our house.

Now we are into the 3 rd generation. A 1976 VW Bus which we tow.

Slabman you had the older generation 62 Bug. 6 volt, with a 1300 engine. No gas guage.

They were tough but no heat and you could hardly see at night with the old 6 volt system but they were everyones cheap transportation in the old days.

It's the same way with the older Buses before 1968. They are nostalgic but weren't very practical for todays hiways.
