Some of our friends have a 2004 Gulfstream with full paint. As motorhomes get older, you start to experience more and more problems. Some you can handle and some you can't. Their problems started from a bird hitting the top cap and within a couple of years the clear coat started peeling off. Then came the mirrors. It looked awful on an expensive motorhome. They checked with a couple of paint shops and as you would guess, very expensive.

They are pretty handy and do a lot of repairs them selves. They started talking about doing it themselves and asked me for guidance. They had decided to try and paint it with spray cans. How much worse could it look. From my experience, if you don't use commercial auto paint you are wasting your time. Even that sometimes gives problems. I told them, not to use spray cans, they would be very disappointed.

Susie and I talked and I told her the spraying would be very easy for me. I have the equipment and the experience to do it. If they were willing to do the sanding and prep work, buy the paint, and tape it up for painting, I would spray it free of charge. I made the offer and they were estatic, and said yes buy all means. We coordinated the paint with my local paint supplier and I made a couple of inspections of their sanding. We were ready to go.

They brought it to our house, right in front of the garage and the process began.

Here is Dee with Paris helping, getting the cover up started

Richard started on the top hard to reach areas. We had to leave the awning cover exposed because it had turned white from the sun and thin coat of factory paint. It was to be included in the over all job.

Look at that mirror. It was in bad shape

Here you can see some of the sanding of the old clear coat. When we finish it will look new.

The top cap, awning cover, mirrors and one side panel will make it look new.
