This was really a lucky find. The Sturgis Harley Rally is usually the first week in August, so around the 7th we decided to go to lower Montana before we took off to Yellowstone, because we new the next time thru we would be on the upper Glacier Park end of Montana. They were having an Indian Festival or Pow Wow near Harding. This is something to mark on your itinerary.

They call this the Teepee capitol of the world. Must have been around 1500. Can you imagine how that looked?

We drove up into the middle of the camp. At first they were a little unsure of the Black Widow, but as they came out and started talking the were as normal as you and I. One thing we noticed is that the language they mostly spoke did not have r's in it. So when they said Warrior, it sounded like Whoaya. Big Bad John & Runaround Sue

Here they are starting the competition. It was very intence.
They also had some awesome authenic Indian jewelery. Susie brought two pieces.
Another close by event was Custer's National Park, which was an excellent review of the Custers's Last Stand Battle field. When you stand on the hill where he died, they have crosses making the last few remaining men and their names. Very, Very interesting.

These are the two pieces she brought and everytime she wears them people always comment on them. If you like jewelery this event is for you.

John- Cool pictures! Another great time to visit the Cow Agency/Custer Monument is about the 3rd week in June. Custer's Last Stand is re-enacted and admission to the National Park is free. Lisa & I were out there just before you & Sue for the 122nd anniversary of the battle. It's quite a sobering site with all the grave stones and the obelisk monument where the mass grave is located.
Love to visit again, then head to Livingston & Yellowstone again. There's an excursion train out of Livingston that goes almost to Spokane, if memory serves right. It's a classic diesel engine train that has the domed(Vista-liner or something like that?) topped cars. Heck, the town of Livingston was pretty cool by itself!
