The vick vaporub on the feet is awesome - I do that. It really help soften rough heels and I've always loved the smell. Don't know if it helps with a cough or not.

I have never seen Blackberry Brandy, might have to look for some.
I hated to go to my Grandmother's if I was sick. She would take Vicks and mix it with turpentine and soak one of my Grandpa's wool socks in it and pin it around your neck. If she got the mix too strong, it would flat take your hide off.

Sorry to hear about your cough. It seems to be the main lingering complaint after someone has the flu. Maybe the socks and vicks thing got confused over the years? My Mom used a sock just because it fit the best around our necks. Of course anywhere you apply Vicks on your body the heat will provide the vapors. Vicks on the feet would be pretty far away from where you breath, but yes, you would end up with some nice soft heels. Hope you find some relief.

This is my mother's recipe, it wasn't to bad until I saw what she put in it.
In 1 cup : 1Tb of honey
1 cap apple cider vinegar
1 cap lemon juice
hot water
she had us drink it in the night when we woke up coughing. I do remember "Hardly ever seeing a DR." Mother had to have a remedy for everything. My grandmothers came from Ireland and had a recipe for all ailments. I hope you find the right one for you. I see there are a lot of good ones already submited.
The good old whiskey in hot lemon and honey works, but I am a friend of Bill W. and cant drink anymore.

Bill W. founder of alcoholics anonymous is just a different way to say I am in A.A. Next time you are on the highway and see a bumper sticker "friend of Bill W." you'll know why. As we travel I see different slogans on bumpers, Serenity, Easy Does It, Keep it simple" it tells me that someone onboard is in A.A.I have been trying to get a group going down here in the RGV Park I am in, but no response as yet. Bill W. gave us the 12 steps and anyone can use the 12 steps, overeaters anon. al-anon, ala-teen etc, I have 29 years and will hit 30 years september 2008. Just taking it one day at a time. I am always glad when someone wants to know something I can help with. I am always willing to lend a hand. hope that helped a little. :)
