I am a newbie fulltime rver and have been copying you recipes to my word folder to try but have a major queston. Where do you store all the food stuff and how do you organize everything. I am use to two frigs and a large freezer. I need to get organized and need some suggestions. Thanks for the Help Anniet

Same here with the two refrigerators and large freezer. You simply get used to grocery shopping more often and stocking less. We are big fresh fruit and veggie eaters. Meals are pretty well a meat and a big salad. DH drinks two gallons of milk weekly...With the smaller refrigerator...no way we can manage buying for a whole week!!
We don't stock our pantry as we do at home. We figure out a menu for the week and buy accordingly.
I use a lot of zip lock bags...they "sqush down"..and fit into unusual spaces, the the refrigerator and pantry.
I can no longer buy meats in "family sized cheaper packages" and save money...but you adjust! :)
DH and I like different kinds of bread, salad dressings and such... But there we adjust too..and both use the same kind due to lack of room. No longer have a refrigerator full of pickles, olives, relishes, a selection of jams and jellies. No room.
I use cake mixes to bake DH cakes.. don't haul all the ingredients and spices to bake homemade. Same with cornbread. Use little boxes of Jiffy cornbread mix.
It helps that I'm a "simple, use few ingredients cook". Have never put a big menu on the table for meals. A meat, a starch and some "greenery" pretty well does it for me. With carb counting...we've pretty much given up the starches...except for DH's cake...Grin.. And occasionally, I NEED a baked potato!!
I see you have been a Forum member for less than a month...Welcome to our Forum...surely glad to have you join us..

Thanks for the information. I am learning what I need and what I can do without. Guess it is getting back to my old college efficiency apts. You household sounds similar to our relationship except I have to cool Cornbread from scratch. DH won't have it anyother way. We both like the milk and I have to buy at least two gallons a week. Started out with 1/2 gallons but then had to move on to gallons and relinquish the space. Thanks again Anniet

Forgot to tell you I use plastic containers to put in what few spice we do use. Keeps them from rolling around, falling over. Our longer cooking utensils won't fit into our short kitchen drawers,so have a shallow plastic container for the egg turner, large spoon and slotted spoon.
There is a cornbread mix that has the baking soda, baking powder and such in...Essentially, it's still baked from scratch. But if you bake a lot you may need those spices anyway.
Have a wonderful day...I will!

We bought a small freezer from Sam's Club & put in our kitchen in our 5th wheel! I'm a vegetarian & my meat substitute is not always as easy to find on the road-& usually is much more expensive also---so I buy what we eat & put in the freezer----& when I do cook/ I make my recipes for us to have at least two meals out of & we freeze the extra for another meal. I use my crock pot & electric skillet & toaster oven a lot & of coarse the microwave also! I even bake a lot in my crock pot! Hubby does a lot of cooking on the small portable grill also! We try to find a lot of farmer's markets in route for fresh things in season! And we shop at budget bakeries---- & we love the smaller grocery stores along the way in small towns---usually can always find great specials in those stores! When we are traveling down the road----I always have fruit & veggies for our snacks so we don't do the junk food things! I take a lot of my home grown herbs with us & seasonings as that is how I cook----- But I have to really think about what I want to take as far as kitchen & food supplies! And we waste less food & we plan all of our meals better on the road than we do at home------ It seems we waste more food at home than we do on the road!
