Here we are 3 days from Thanksgiving and I don't know what any of you are cooking. I'm nosy like that. So, what are you cooking, where are you going for Thanksgiving?
We were headed to Tucson and the officer's club on base but decided to stay in tiny Ajo, Arizona until the end of the month. Ajo is absolutely a delightful place to spend a month. What a great community.
After we decided to stay, we thought we'd go to the golf course for their buffet. Stan went to pay for our extra days and the rv resort owner said we should have Thanksgiving here in the park. He roasts a turkey, makes stuffing and mashed potatoes, and we bring the rest. I'm going to make a pumpkin cheescake and an apple pie. This is our final decision for TG dinner, right here at Ajo Heights RV Resort. Lindy Lindy

Hey Lindy that sounds wonderful !!! I bought a frozen turkey dinner and some frozen potato deal. Pretty pitiful ! Obviously I don't want to cook and my sisters are busy with their own deals so it's just me and the fur kids. I'm going to go to Kmart - my Mom and I used to go there every Thanksgiving day. Then later my younger sister, her husband and I are going to WalMart, they have a Christmas tree in the lobby with tags on it with "elders" names and gift requests. We're going to pick one or two people off the tree and get gifts for them. I'm really looking forward to doing that. Heck, I'll probably go back to WalMart every weekend till Christmas to pick another person off the tree. I can't stand the thought of an elderly person alone at Christmas. Maybe I need to look into visiting a rest home this holiday season ! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone !!! Molly, Murphy and Me are ready to be free !!!

Well Lindy, we'll be headed to the desert on Weds after the traffic dies down a bit. Since I just found out it'll be only myself, DH, son and youngest step son this year (making 4), instead of the normal 7-8, I don't know if I'll do a turkey or just turkey breasts. If I can find a real small turkey I may do one as DH wants a turkey. I then cook up a pot of rice (for DH), some stuffing, new potatoes skillet fried, yams?, rolls, and salad. Desert? Will probably purchase a pumpkin pie. Need to get things packed and ready to go. :) Live, Love, Laugh - Aloha Donna & Willie 05 32' Seabreeze Class A 07 Jeep Liberty Ltd

Lindy, we are going to our son's home. He is BBQ-ing turkey, and they are having that Green Bean Casserole; another vegetable dish of some sort; a rice and cheese dish; ham; a pumpkin, a peach and a pecan pie. Son said he couldn't make my dressing...but he would make a bad tasting, dried up attempt at dressing (hint, hint)...So, I volunteered to make the dressing and will take giblet gravy and a fruit salad.
I am SO looking forward to this!! I had put out the word I thought it was time for someone younger to have the meal. Will be the FIRST year I'm not cooking the meal....and I'm gladly handing the reins over to them!!! :)
I like that he's BBQing... gives more time to visit while the bird cooks!!
Happy Thanksgiving All!!! :) Joella

Lindy, being that I wasn't going to be here for Turkey Day.. it's only going to be me and my hubby..normally it's the group which consists of 25 and on Christmas it's the clan which is 96..yeppers.. we Italians multiply..We all bring things.. we rent the fire house out.. Praying always NO FIRE..and the family units bring their Roasters with all the trimmings.. Lots of Crock Pots and Nesco Ovens going. We've been doing that for ages....So I'm the one that's breaking the tradition.. Kind of about time.. LOL I mean I'm 64 and finally saying.. "I want it my way " LOL... We even draw a PollyAnna.. take a name out of a hat and that's who we give a gift too.. Hey with my size family.. You'd need a truck to deliver gifts...:)
So, it's a 10lbs Turkey with Stuffing and Sweet Potatoes, Turnips, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans. Cranberry Sauce.. Sweet Tater Pie..(DH's favorite) Lord help me I'm hungry now as I'm writing this stuff down..
Wishing all of you a Happy Thanksgiving !
God Bless Barbzeee Life is full of surprises, just go with the flow !

I'm fixing dinner for a friend here in 'bama - I'm not a turkey fan, but he is - so I got a turkey breast and am doing stuffing and baked sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce with a salad. I'll eat a lot of salad, and hopefully not too much stuffing and a tad of the sweet potatoes.
I love that green bean casserole, but am not making it this time - as there's already too much food for 2. Personally, I'd much rather be fixin' chicken or cornish hens - maybe I'll do the cornish hens for Christmas. Smiling is contagious - try it!

We're having Thanksgiving dinner up here in the mountains. Judy, the office manager (workamper) is cooking turkey, ham, dressing, and gravy, and we've asked everyone else to bring something. So, who knows what we'll end up with. Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be wonderful. As for me, I have no idea what I'll take, but I'm going into the "big city" this afternoon, so will cruise the aisles. Although my toaster oven does great with cookies and all kinds of things for one or two people, I don't think it could handle a pie or something for lots of people.
I've been giving one of the little girls here piano lessons, so we might even play something.
The guy next to me plays the guitar and sings, and from what I heard every night, I figured he was pretty good. Every year he makes a CD of songs for his family members and he loaned me a copy last night. It absolutely blew me away! Mostly country songs, but the feeling with which he sang was unbelievable. We’re going to get together sometime and do some piano/guitar jamming. But, I’m nowhere in his league. So, I hope he might also play at Thanksgiving.

Well, I'm doing the works this year and my sister and her hubby and her mil, my ex, my gd, my dad and I will have dinner. My daughter and her bf may stop by...probably in time for desert!! HA HA.
I don't mind doing it though cause I like to cook. More I think I like the gathering of folks. And, it is just as easy to cook the whole thing than it is to "assign" dishes for everyone else. However that said, sis and her mil are bringing the deserts. :)
