Hi. I am a single fulltimer. Cooking in the afternoon in this summer heat isn't fun. So, I don't. I bought 2 Stanley Stainless Steel Vacuum WIDE MOUTH Thermos Bottles. I cook pasta or soup, or stew, etc., in the cooler morning. Then, I put the food in the wide mouth thermoses and it is waiting for me when I want it. When I cook pasta, I don't drain it. I laddle the hot cooking water into the thermoses to warm them up. Then I drain the pasta, add the seasonings, and reheat for three minutes in the microwave (when you add cold ingredients to the hot pasta, the temperature goes down. You need the food to be HOT when it goes into the thermos.) I usually top the pasta with a canned soup, or meat, or just vegetables, and try different seasonings. It is quick, easy, and nice when you don't feel well. Your dinner is waiting when you want it. If you are putting other foods in the thermos, you need to warm it first. Just fill thermos with hot water, and let it sit for about five minutes. This way your food will stay nice and hot for hours. One other thing, I wash the thermos with a bottle brush. I make it my practice to rinse and wash it right away. It is easier to clean if the food hasn't dried. Or, you can fill the thermos with water -right up to the top is best- and then you can wash it later. P. S. I use a long handle teaspoon or regular knife to get the food out of the thermos. Thermoses aren't just for lunchboxes anymore. If you don't have the time to do it right, when will you have the time to do it over?

That's a great idea for people like me when traveling alone! Oftentimes I don't feel like cooking once I'm stopped, but I'm ready to eat. See you down the road, Liz and Roe (dog) '99 Roadtrek 170 "Life in the presence of God is a life to be enjoyed every moment of every day."
