Snowcream
I know they say it isn't safe to eat snow cream but I had to laugh last week. I was at a local restaurant last Sat. We had a couple of light snows last week---the last being Sat. morning. I heard someone tell a friend of mine seated on the other side of a divider that the bowl he had just brought was snow cream!! I couldn't resist---I leaned over and ask Jimmy if it was "yellow" snow. Jimmy was born in Greece so he had never had snow cream--never heard of it. He grossed out when one of the other guys explained "yellow snow". His wife was born in Ky. so she was dying laughing. It was so funny---brought back a lot of memories from our childhoods. I guess they couldn't resist after me giving Jimmy a hard time---soon I had my own bowl of snow cream!! LOL
For those of you who have never heard of snow cream, they used to take snow (not the first snow of the year), mix a little sugar, vanilla, and milk or better yet cream and mix it to make a type of home-made ice cream. They always made it a small bowl at a time!! My sister-in-law used to make it for her kids!! You had to be carefull though because you DID NOT want yellow snow!!! LOL

Snowcream
Living in Vermont all my life I can say we never had snowcream. Maybe it's because we had maple syrup to pour on our snow (early spring time only). The stuff out of the freezer in July just DOES'T WORK. But your story brought back menories of "sugar sandwiches" at Grandma's house. Just alittle sugar sprinkled on a good size slice of home made bread and a few drops of water then the instructions "Go eat it out side, can't have sugar all over the kitchen, it'll bring in the mice" Thanks for bringing up a good memory that I haven't thought of in a long time. LOL :) going to travel CJ

I had some of that "stuff out of the freezer" with maple syrup on a New England Fall Folliage tour a few years ago. Not knowing that it wasn't any good, I thoughly enjoyed it!! LOL Guess I'll have to try the "real" stuff one of these springs!! :)
