Glad you liked the recipe, Pat. I did find and buy some Chinese Five Spices--- put out by Dynasty. The ingredients seem to vary from maker to maker. Mine contain Cinnamon, Star Anise, Fennel, Ginger, Cloves, White Pepper and Licorice Root.
I think mine has a "double whammy of licorice taste"... It smells like licorice even with the lid on... Used to love licorice when I was a kid! I still may. Haven't had any in 100 years!
I now have the spices...now to find ribs on sale.. We are planning a BBQ pit full of meats--- soon as I find chicken on sale too. We love to cook up a pit full, then stash it in the freezer! Plan to do chicken, pork ribs, beef brisket and link sausage! Oh YUM!!
