Vanilla Sugar OR Cinnamon Vanilla Sugar

Keep jars of vanilla sugar and cinnamon vanilla sugar by your coffee maker. To make vanilla sugars, just split open a vanilla bean and poke it into a jar of sugar or cinnamon sugar. The vanilla goodness will seep into your sugar and it tastes wonderful. You can also do this with brown sugar.

For an autumn treat, make pumpkin pie spice sugar by adding dashes of ginger, nutmeg, and ground cloves to your cinnamon vanilla sugar. Add to your coffee along with cream!

(For a pint-size jar, use one split bean. For a quart size jar, use at least two. You can keep replacing the sugar and use the same bean for some time.)

Happy RV Cooking!

Where do you find a vanilla bean? Also what is the deal with the time showing our posts.

I got ours at a Specialty Import Store in our travels... but read this on the Internet.

I only use a few vanilla beans per year. However, I don't like spending the money for them at the grocery store. I have found that when I need vanilla beans, at an affordable cost, I go to http://www.beanilla.com. They are delivered in a couple of days, right to my door! I have never seen vanilla beans this fresh and moist! They are HUGE! There is no comparison between the vanilla beans from http://www.beanilla.com and the ones you pay an arm and a leg for in the grocery! I am so glad I found this site!

There were several reviews on beanilla.com.....and ALL said the beans were the best..

Good luck finding them.

Several years ago one of my friends gave me a bottle of perpetual vanilla extract. It's a little glass bottle that holds probably about 4-6 ounces with a vanilla bean in it. You fill the bottle with vodka and let it steep for a month then use it as you would any vanilla extract in a recipe... replenish the vodka as needed. It really gives great vanilla flavor!
