LOL Having met you in person this fall, Sharon, I can just visualize you makeing these cookies!! I'm afraid I'll have to stick with me fruitcake cookies. They have been my "hit of the year" with my friends this year but they don't call for Royal Crown. LOL That was hillarious. Merry Christmas to all. I'm in Illinois and having a great visit with family and friends.

Well Fernie, seeing as how I taught you to make biscuits, next time we see each other we'll have to make these cookies, no matter what time of year it is!!Bring on the Baileys! Wahoo!! (although having met me, you know that 1 sip and I'll be laid out on the floor and you'll be making the cookies!) Glad you made it to Ill. ok, and hope you are having a great time! Good Roads, Sharon

Sounds like a winner!! Of course, I think you will make it till I get the first batch of cookies out of the oven!! You are giving everyone a bad opinion of you!!! LOL :) I can probably handle making cookies. If I could learn to make homemade biscuits, I know I can handle cookies!! I always got in more trouble after a few drinks than I did without them-----and I never drank much!! LOL Having a great time visiting friends and family. Merry Christmas to all!!!

Since the Christmas Cookie thread is still showing, I thought I'd share my Christmas cookie recipe that seemed to be the hit of my baking this year. I even had hints from my chiropractor she would sure like a few more (I just took her a small tin since she has been working so hard at losing weight) and also from some other friends I had taken a small plate of cookies to. I don't like most fruitcake but I love these cookies. Granted, they aren't as much fun to bake as Sharon's but......!! LOL
Fruitcake Cookies
½ cup butter or margarine, softened ½ cup shortening ½ cup sugar ½ cup brown sugar, packed 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 1 cup all-purpose flour ½ tsp. baking soda ½ tsp. salt 2 cups old fashion oats 1 cup coconut ½ cup chopped dates ½ chopped red and green candied cherries ½ chopped candied pineapple Cream sugar, butter or margarine in mixing bowl. Add egg and vanilla and mix well. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, oats and add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in coconut, cherries, dates and pineapple. Shape into 1” balls. Place on greased baking sheet and bake at 350 for 15 min or until lightly browned.
