Hi everyone!!!   I am new and just bought a vintage RV.   1970 and SHE is great.   I found the seller on Craigslist her in KC.  The RV was in a barn, and covered.   She purrs like a kitten and someone took extremely good care of her.   Drove her 2 hours home to my place and fell in love with her before I reached the driveway.  I am not happy with the orange and avacado colors.  I lived through that error and had all of those colors I can stand.   But, I am going to retire next year (plans were this Jan, but the economy delayed that!).   So will be spending these next 9 months redecorating her, cleaning, testing the appiances, and maintance.  I did already change out the air vents with new ones as the plastic was cracked and yellow.   Then resealed the roof.   There is no leaks as with the winter storm we had in Kansas this past weekend, I checked for any incoming water.   I do have a fear that maybe when I do hook her up to water, the seals and hoses may need replaced.   

I also do have a concern of traveling by myself.   But I have read alot of correspondence between the girls here on the site and seems like I have nothing to fear.   So, myself and my precious Liza (black cocker spanial) will be living my long time dream of waking up and having coffee beside a lake or with a ocean view to start my day.   

I am sure I will enjoy all correspondence, hints/tips, and just good old BS with you all.

Gerilynn, Welcome to the forum.  Good that you have some time to get familiar with your new friend before hitting the road.  I had a 78 motorhome, orange shag carpet...woo hoo, but had the navajo prints and such for colors.. I recall the avocado (moms fridge and stove) :-) With your maintenance it sounds like you know what you are doing, that will cut down on a lot of the cost of fixing it up.  Would love to see pictures 

I retired from the military in 94, bought a used motorhome and took my time coming across from Maine to Oregon, via Florida and Texas.... Had several Class C's but am motor homeless at this time. There will be another one though.. just haven't found it yet! Take care, good to meet you. Sue

Ok...I will give the pics a try.   Please remember Lil Bit is a family member and scheduled for serious alterations in the near future.   So be gentle (but honest) I love this RV!!!   Really...any comments welcomed.   1st picture is the auto ID plate I used to title her with.  I also put antique plates on Her!!! I am very proud of her....check the inside out...her age (1970) and not a rip, tear, or sagging anywhere.  The seats look like no one ever sat in her.   As I said I am very proud of the treasure!!  I put the picture of the ID plate on the site because I am having problems researching her.  Can not find one like her still out there...so if you happen to find one, hear of one, or know where I can find some history let me know.  Would love to know some history!!

 

What I have been told by the previous owner and what is on the ID plate....it is a 1970 Over the Road Dodge on a Chrysler Chaise.   The engine and auto part would use Dodge parts and the Chaise would be Chrylser.   I am going to check out the appliances and the previous owner said he used the refrigerator resently....but will check them out and paint them (or have them painted) red.   I have located red appliance paint.  Which I am pretty lucky since the red washer/dryer and appliances are back in style.   They make the appliance or high heat spray paint in red / black/ and white.  I believe I could get it in almond also.  Anyway....I can find a small microwave and paint it to match the fridge and stove/oven.   The bedroom is first ....hoping that won't take long.   Not much to do there, but wanted to get it done in case I need to take a nap inbetween projects.    I not as young as I used to be... But not as old as I hope to be!!!
