I'm not new to this forum BUT I have not really posted - just read all the posts.
My name is Linda and I haven't used my RV much by myself but you gals sure give encouragement. Just might head out to Quartzsite with my friend and look up the people on this forum that will be there. He thinks I should start doing more RVing by myself even though he loves to go. It's so nice to have him along because he really doesn't mind doing the things that I don't want to do - emptying tanks, etc. AND he is so much help. We will probably leave for Q Friday, 1/16.
I have a 2007 Holiday Rambler Neptune 34' diesel. Last night while we were on our way to go out to dinner, we met up with some people that we first met at an RV park in Cortez, CO back in October. They are staying at a local RV park for 5-6 weeks.

Hi Linda ! I'm glad you posted :D It's really nice to meet the new people. I'm glad you have someone to RV with, but it's nice that you can do it by yourself too ! Really opens up your possibilities. I hope you can hook up with some of the ladies at Q - Enjoy Trudy, Molly & Murphy 37' Montana 5th wheel - "be the kind of person your dog thinks you are"

Hi Trudy
Thanks for the welcome! I admire how you RV by yourself along with Molly & kitty. I have 2 dogs that travel with us and if I ever head out on my own, they will go with me.
What was your final push to RV on your own??

Linda, People ask me that allot and I have a hard time answering that - I think it was part divine intervention and part wanting to see if I could !! I knew I wanted to retire as soon as I could, so when I turned 50 I was out of there !! And I knew I didn't want to just stay in Iowa, but I didn't know where I wanted to go ! I wanted to be able to take Molly and Murphy with me - I wouldn't have left without them. Then one day I sort of started thinking of RV's - that same day my sister emailed me a picture of a cute little travel trailer that they'd seen - pretty weird that two people who have never RV'd or even thought of it, thought about it on the same day !!! After that I researched the idea and decided that it'd be worth a shot !! I almost quit several times - I had several rough patches, but I stuck to it and here I am ! Still not sure if it's what I want to do, but I like the idea of wintering one place and spending summer close to my family - I'm going to keep trying - I want to "do" this summer then another winter and I'll make some sort of decision then. As far as going alone, I'm all there is, so I either do it alone or not at all ! Trudy, Molly & Murphy 37' Montana 5th wheel - "be the kind of person your dog thinks you are"

Hi Linda,
I just read your post and your reference to an RV park in Cortez, CO. I live in Cortez.
What RV park did you stay at? Sundance? There aren't many....
Did you make it to Q? Did you have a good time?
Nice to see you posting,
Debbie

Hi Debbie!
I think the RV park we stayed at in Cortez was Montrose. Does that ring a bell. If I don't write things down, they leave me - we have been so many places.
Do you RV part time? Do you ever get to Calif.? Did you go to Quartzsite?
We just got back this afternoon from Arizona & So. Ca. Did not meet up with the gals from this forum - couldn't find them at Rice Ranch. Was looking forward to meeting up with them. I couldn't get WiFi for most of this trip. We enjoyed our time anyway! Linda

Linda,
There is a town called Montrose that is about 2 hours north of Cortez, close to Telluride.
Do you remember if the RV park was right in town close to the park or on the outskirts of town?
There really is only 3 that I can think of: The KOA, The Sundance RV Park, and one other one (I can't think of the name).
If you were closer to the entrance to Mesa Verde there are two RV parks there.
Oh well, I'm glad you had a good time no matter where you stayed.
I only RV part time, as I still work full time.
I did not get to go to Quartzsite but hopefully will get the chance in the future.
If you are in the area again, let me know.

I'm so sorry - I think the place we stayed in Cortez was Sundance but not real sure. We passed by all the "so, so" places until we found where we stayed which was good. And, we stayed in the TOWN of Montrose, CO.
We did visit the Pueblo Indian cliff dwellings and really enjoyed that. It sure was way up in the mountains.
Would like to get back to CO - maybe this summer. We really didn't spend much there. I know it is a beautiful state. I have a niece in Castlerock and have been to visit her. Loved Colorado. We also need to get to New Mexico! Linda
