Good Morning; I am a 36 yr old lady who used to go camping and fishing as a kid then got married to a non outdoorsy person and haven't spent time outdoors in almost 19yrs...I have missed camping and fishing or just be in the great outdoors..Divorce is pending and now I want to get back into the outdoors lifestyle.. I love going to Bass Pro and Gander Mountain for clothes and just looking around. I know what kind of travel trailer I would like to get and fix up---A Shasta..But I don't think my little Kia Rio could tow that much weight.. So come next yr if gas prices are better I might get a bigger car or small truck. Hope to meet lots of friends here. NatureNut72

Welcome NautureNut!
Glad you joined us :) Those Shasta trailers are so nice. I had the opportunity to see inside one last month at a rally, and I see Coachman is going to start making them again. They were such a hit the first time! Have fun with it!

Howdy, NN72 -
Hope you get to follow your dream. The price of fuel is a bit off-putting, but I hope you get to buy whatever you can and get out there in the great outdoors soon.

I am a newbie also. This is off topic, but I noticed in Mollysmom pic that you have a cat. I'm getting to the point of selling or renting the house and just living in an RV (moving around when I feel like it), BUT I have 2 cats who are used to going in and out. What does anyone do with cats like that or is it just impossible to take them along? I could never give them away, but I don't want to make life miserable for them either. Is a portable screen room any kind of answer? I'd appreciate any input or suggestions. I'll have plenty of equipment and vehicle questions later, but my "girls" are my first concern. Thanks, Maddy

Hi Maddy - My cat is pretty much an inside cat. I do have a harness for him, I just haven't tried it out yet - I'd rather he not get used to going outside, that way I don't have to be so careful going in and out the door. He travels in a big carrier that's nylon and screening - I have put him outside in that and he seems to enjoy that. He can get some fresh air and sunshine. I know Jenny (Seeya Gal) has cats - you may want to try "talking" to her or better yet you can start a new discussion in the Open Chat area and title it CATS and you'll hear from the cat owners here ! Oh - welcome to the forum :D Trudy, Molly & Murphy "Be the kind of person your dog thinks you are"

Hi Maddy! I'm betting your cats will do just fine. Move their things and their litter box in the RV, and they'll make the transition. Most of us travel with animals --- some all cats, some dogs and some both!
I have friends in CA who built a screen "box" that attachés to their motorhome, accessible from the inside through one of their outside storage area doors, and the cats go in and out at will, and love it!
By the way...Welcome to our Forum, so happy to have you! Keep on coming back and posting, we treasure our Newbies...and before long they are just one of the Forum sisters!! :)
