Hiya ladies! I have lots of ideas/questions about RVs and am looking forward to fun conversations. Currently I am splitting my time between CA and TX. Home is CA but daughter and family are in Austin. A year ago I considered buying an RV, but got a condo in Austin instead. Recently my horse went to live with my dearest friends and now I am selling my F250 and Trails West horse trailer. That leads me to an RV to travel between CA and TX. I am thinking about something smaller than most of you have....a Casita pulled by a 4Runner. Is that crazy?

A casita is a good choice with today's fuel prices! I have a Chalet which is similar sized when open and is a folding TT for travel.
good luck with your "shopping" for a camper.

California, huh? Well, greetings from a fellow "Left Coaster"!
Casitas are great little trailers! Well laid-out & well-built from what I understand. Plus, since you're in TX you can actually go get it without a lot of hassle.
As Cedar said, she's got a Chalet. You might want to take a look a them, too, as you might find towing them to be a bit easier on your 4Runner -- less wind resistance. I haven't compared prices & weights lately, but they might be comprable in both areas. Plus, if you're using it for short trips you might find that the larger Chalet will suit your needs as well as a Casita.
We're a very ecclectic bunch by way of rigs. Everything from a Chalet to a big Class A. I'm on the smaller side, too, with a 19' Shamrock hybrid trailer. Again, depending on your needs you might look at those, too, especially the smaller ones.
I'm in the L.A. area. If you get your rig let me know -- we'll go camping!

Welcome and not crazy at all. I love the little casitas.
The only thing I'd say about them - is do you just plan to use it to get back and forth, or do you intend to spend extended times in it?
The reason I ask - is I just was talking with some folks who love their Casita - but are planning to get just a tad bigger - to be able to stand upright inside. Me, I'd probably be able to LOL - am vertically challenged.
Do what will work well for you - we are all different. And don't let anyone tell you you should go bigger or smaller or tow or not tow, etc - those are all decisions you need to make for yourself based on how you plan to travel and use it.
We ladies here have just about everything from small C's and TT's to the largest 5th wheels and Class A's - and I think most of us will say we love what we have :)

Diana, Welcome to the forum, Sorry about your horse but at least it is going to friends. Still be able to say hey. I tried the small trailers (16 foot Bigfoot) and it was to small, two people and two dogs. But I can see it working for one. My major complaint was the beds were shorter than I was tall. The Casitas are cute and there are a few other brands that are small and compact, but they may be unique to certain areas of the country. If you are looking for used, tho, you may find some other brands out there.

I'm in CA, too - which area are you in? Get enough of us here and we, too, can have our own rally like some of the others have done!

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I am in central CA foothills, gold country. Anybody near here?
Reading over old posts has me in awe! What a great group, traveling with all of you as support is hardly "alone"!
Recently I got to see my first Casita in person and was so excited I can't remember if I could stand up straight in it or not! It is nearby tho so I will get to take another closer look.
