I do not actually reside in the mountains. My body resides in the great state of Kentucky but my heart and soul resides in the mountains--usually the northwest and especially the Grand Tetons. :)

Hey, MW
I'm new too and I'm looking forward to meeting everyone. I'm retiring at the end of 2009 but I'm going to sell my house next spring & buy my new "home" then & live on my friend's horse farm w/ my dogs until retirement. I'm planning on getting a 5th wheel toy hauler because of the dogs (3) and I'm a person who likes space so thought I'd go for the 38 footer. Do any of you think this is too big to drag around full-time?

My 5th wheel is going to be 37' long so I hope it not too big ! HA
Sounds like you have a great plan - get rid of the house now so it doesn't hold you up when you're ready to go !
Good luck !

MM, do you have one picked out yet? What kind? I want to pick everyone's brain & see what the most important features they think I should get. I don't have unlimited $$$ but I think the central vac would be a plus since it eliminates the need for vacuum cleaners. Anything to save space has to be good. Has anyone had experience w/ these central vacs?

Yep, I ordered a new Montana 3465SA - it's going to be awesome, at least I hope it is !
I finally picked the model because it seems to have lots of inside storage, it has a little coat/broom closet by the front door, rear living (I really wanted the big back window) it has an all in one bathroom (some have seperate rooms for the toilet - I don't like that) there are several closet spaces in the bedroom and there's a real bedroom door vs. an accordian type door. The couch folds out to a bed and it's a very comfy air type mattress - nice for guests. There's a fireplace which is something I really wanted for extra heat and because it's neat !
I wanted a 4 season unit so I wouldn't be as limited with where I could go (I'm from Iowa so will be back here to visit and it gets cold !!)
I chose Montana because I had read good things about that brand and I really like the dealer. Their service department is great and the person I've been dealing with is so nice and very very helpful. That means alot to me since I'll be traveling alone - I know I can call them anytime and they'll help me over the phone if they can and if need be they'll find someone who can help me "in person"
Good luck with your search ! It's a bit overwhelming.
I'd suggest just looking then make a list of the features that are important to you and start narrowing it down !!
Enjoy :D
