I RV'd a lot when married but this will be all new as a single. I am looking at campers, trying to decide what I can afford and will be easy to set up. I would like to find RVers in Texas as I still work and will do most traveling on weekend or long weekends. I am not sure if I want to try a single womans group or mixed. What do some of you suggest? I travel solo and don't belong to any groups. It depends if you want to find a guy, go to a mixed group. If you just want company of women like you go to a singles. I meet enough people just traveling around that I've never felt the need to join anything. The ladies on this Forum are enough for me! (wild bunch)

Hey, guys! Listen to Sparkle calling the rest of us wild? Ha!
Hi Patsy and welcome. Guess I'm one of those crazy old wild ladies.
It's a matter of personal preference, I'd say. I belong to a Good Sam chapter and that gives me one weekend a month camping with friends. It's a mixed bag - mostly couples with a few singles thrown in. But it's a group that my DH and I belonged to for many years before his death, so they are all dear friends. I like hitching along with some of them on other trips and everyone knows if they ask me to tag along I usually say yes. If you'd rather go off on your own then you probably don't need a group.
This bunch of gals is a Godsend for me. Repeating what many have said, I'm so happy I stumbled on this forum! They encouraged me when I needed it and we get so much information from each other!

Hey Patsy!
As a through-and-through single, I can't speak highly enough for the SCCampers group and their friendship. it's a very mixed group & I've had a blast on every trip. As Evie said, it's sometimes nice to be attached to something, but yet have the freedom to be independent. I like knowing that I'm known by someone else in another rig in the campground.
That said, I've taken 1 BIG trip in my trailer by myself (1600 mi.). I enjoyed it, but honestly found myself not doing things I would have if I'd had someone else along with me. In one particular place it was very, very remote and I didn't feel comfortable (safe) tromping around by myself. On the other hand, when I was in Monterey (Calif.) and knew the town well I had a blast.
I think you know what you feel comfortable with in life. The same holds true for camping. If you've got friends who'll go with you on weekends I think you'll find it really enjoyable. As far as groups, don't be afraid to check out a few, just to see what fit.
I'm rambling ... ;)
In terms of trailer/rig, I've got a 19' hybrid. Started out in a pop-up but found that I wanted the ability to stop at a WalMart parking lot overnight without having to set up. I like a trailer because I want to be able to go places out side the campground. What you get obviously depends on your finances and your tow vehicle, if you decide to pull something.
Start looking at everything! You'll have a blast! And welcome! Laura -- and Jed

Welcome Patsy!
I'm also divorced, and although I'm not looking for a new partner at this time I do belong to a couple of groups for companionship. This women's forum is the great, and i'm glad you started here.
For other groups (not dating sites!) you might check out:
ORS is a mixed group with an active chat room. I've been a member for about three years and we also have get togethers around the country.
RVBuddies is a group for solo women, I've been in that group for about 5 years. We are from Canada, US and Austraila. Divorced, widows, singles,.. all kinds of rigs.
Both groups have high standards for no smut or foul language, accepting of all campers, diversity is honored.
Good luck getting back out there on the trail and at the campfire! Keep in touch!

I'll be back either Oct 1st or nov 1st depending on the weather up there. If you ever get to my area please email me (kewest99@yahoo.com). I stay in Guadalupe RV park when I'm in Kerrville. Be happy to show you around.

Hi Patsy! Welcome to our Forum and hope you find some groups to meet and to eventually travel with.
Karen, I still don't know when my friend is coming to Texas from Florida. Her DD and SIL will be working the Guadalupe RV park in Kerrville, but I'm not coming there. Betty will fly into Houston and DH and I will pick her up at the airport. She'll then spend several days with us until the daughter comes to get her.
I am DELIGHTED!! Haven't seen her in 20 years. She is 85 and may be my last opportunity to see her!
A shame I won't get to meet you and the furbabies!!
By the way, I love the signature photo size..Any smaller and I'd be wondering which was the dog...except they have black hair! ha!!
Happy RVing All!!!

Welcome, Patsy!
I concur with Cedar about ORS. I belong to that group and this one - this is obviously women, married and single - that group is singles - both these groups give me the warm feeling of friendship and comaraderie.
As for Texas - I'll be in Port Aransas starting in April for 6 months of so. I'll travel to other areas of the state also - but be based there. Hope to get all the Texan members of this group together (and others who will travel) if possible while I'm there. Would love if you could join us.
And I like your name - I'm a happy single, also :) --------------------------- Once your reputation is ruined, you can live life quite freely :) (old German saying)

AzusaTeach said, "I think you know what you feel comfortable with in life. The same holds true for camping."
When we got our Class A we joined a local camping group, but later decided that wasn't for us - - and I realized we weren't "joiners" in our day-to-day life so why did we think we would be "joiners" in our camping life.
Now I travel by myself in a Class B and I am very happy doing that. Like Sparkle, I enjoy meeting people in the campgrounds etc., but I don't feel the need to belong to a group - - other than this great group here on the Forum.
The only drawback I have thought of was if I wanted to do some hiking, I don't think I will feel comfortable doing that alone (safety). So, if I get the urge to hike I'll just try and find some type of ranger-guided hiking somewhere.

Bethers, where do you stay in Port Aransas? Have you been there before? I was thinking about going there for the first leg of my first extended trip in Jan next year at a campground called Ransom Road RV park.
