Hi to everyone! Several years ago friends of mine told me about the Womens RV Forum. I followed your travels with some longing, but decided it wasn't for me - not then anyway. I went through an ugly divorce two years ago and have been living in apartments with my dog Gus since. I am 55 going on 56 and I like the idea of getting an RV instead of a stick house. I live in Alaska and would like to summer here and winter outside. I don't mind the winter's - just don't think an RV would be too warm at 20 below!! I have to keep this short right now, but wanted to "butt in" and say hi. I have no idea how the discussion groups work or anything so please excuse my ignorance.

Did you say you were from Iowa? I grew up in Independence, Iowa. Most of my family is still there. Part of the reason I am thinking of going the RV route instead of a stick house.
Whoops! Got to close up. Time to leave. Best to all. Will be checking in as often as I can.

Welcome Yukon, I just spent the Summer in Alaska and I loved it there! Yep winters are not fun being so cold so coming down to the lower 48 you can stay warm.
Ask away....alot of great gals here.

Hi Yukon!
My mom was from IA - so I still have some relatives there also. I grew up in IL though.
And I turned 55 yesterday - seems like a few of us youngsters in rv's.
I was never one who enjoyed tent camping - but I love rving. I don't consider them the same :) I love having my own bed and bathroom - and can visit friends and go to my own "room" so to speak - with amenities.
Hope to hear more from you.
Smiling is contagious - try it!

I have no idea of what kind of RV I want. When I drive by some of the lots in Anchorage I think about stopping and taking a look, but haven't yet. And I look on Craig's list on occasion also. Any suggestions are very much welcome.
If I had my druthers I would be on the road already, but I know I need to do some research and I have to make sure the funds are available.
I was married for 29 years until my ex got "itchy" feet two years ago so like I said it is me and my dog Gus. I have two really great kids, but they are doing their own thing so now it is my turn.
I envy those of you who are fulltimers. Sounds so great!!!
Sorry if I mess up on replies, etc. I am still figuring out how all of this works.
