Hello All i am a new RV owner, but not new to camping. Growing up in Mass, my father came home one day with a school bus and told all 6 of us kids..heres your winter project...convert this old school bus to an RV that we can all use..so after some long cold days it could have been weeks, when your young who cares, we got it done and i have been hooked ever since. I hope to meet new people here, get some helpful hints and share some great stories. My Partner and i use our RV almost everyweekend just to get away from the hussel and bussel of everyday living and hope when we retire we can travel more. Have a wonderful day, Squirrell

Welcome Squirrell, sounds like you're hooked and will be on the road to futher places soon enough. I think being campers as kids it was easier to love it more as grownups. I have a feeling you will love this lifestyle.

My father also turned an old school bus into an rv. That was in the 70's. We had running water inside the bus and had an ice box (literally cooled with ice not electricity). Of course, no toilet. But we had a blast. Great memories.

Welcome Squirrell, I'm originally from back east as well (a Mainah ayuh!). We normally rented a camp on a lake or on the coast, then my Mom married a man who got us a Starcraft pop up 8 sleeper camper we got to enjoy one year. My DH got me into riding ATVs and that led to tent camping in the desert for a year then I moved up to my Class A. I don't get out nearly as much I would like to for a variety of reasons. I noticed you are now in CA? If you ever get down SoCal way let me know. I still work full time so don't have the luxury of taking off for long periods of time -- YET, but when I do....look out cuz I'll be a travelin fooooooool :) Again, Welcome to the forum. You'll certainly enjoy the ladies here and I'm sure establish some exceptional friendships. Live, Love, Laugh - Aloha Donna & Willie 05 32' Seabreeze Class A 07 Jeep Liberty Ltd

Hi ya Squirrell! I'm glad you joined us,... once a person gets hooked on camping it never leaves. What did you get for your new RV? I was hoping you were still in MA, as there is an active group of women campers in the northeast. Some of us started with a-frame campers and are now looking to get something a bit larger.
Tell us more about your camping weekends, and pictures are always welcome here. It allows the rest of us to camp along with you.
Again,.. welcome!

Squirrel, I love the story of your father giving the bus to the kids as a project. What a wonderful experience and sense of pride you must have had with that old bus!
So when it came time to get your own RV, what did you get and why?

We wanted to just start out with a simple pop-up tent style, that was too small, ok then we looked at pull trailers didnt like the foot plan on the bathrooms, so we walked into the trailer of our dreams after spending ALL DAY looking at everythin from pop-up to Full Class A, we still had the same problem, we didnt like the foot plan for the bathroom..they we just all too small or the sink wasnt in the same room as the john, you all know what im talking bout right? nasty hands having to touch 2 doors before they can even be washed..lol..ok so i walked into this 32 foot class C Fleetwood Tioga 2006, like the inside area, went down the hall and WOW the bathroom was HUGE, i looked at the salesman and OK WHERE DO I SIGN...

Hello, to our new members! I've just been widowed for 4 months and researching solo rving. I know finding this forum has been a great resource of information and encouragement to me. If I make the decision to go, my goal will be to get set up and on the road next summer or fall at the latest.
