Welcome Glenna
I to am trying to make up my mind as to what kind of rig to buy. I started out convinced that what I wanted and needed was a travel trailer and truck. I and my daughter both want to get bikes and figured I would need the back of the truck for the bikes. But after talking to and seeing a small class 'c' belonging to another member on the forum I have been kicking around the idea of maybe getting a class 'c' myself. As to any bikes we end up getting and needing to carry I am looking at these carriers. Check the site out and there might be something there that would work for you. http://www.motorcyclecarrier.net/ Echo (who is a) future full timer a mom with her daughter back home again, single, stifled and ready to cut loose with a Pom named Shade!

I enjoyed reading this whole post again. At first I wanted a motorhome, probably a class C - then I wanted a 5th wheel, I loved all the room and the homey feel, now I love the class A motorhome !!! I'm driving my sisters crazy with all the back and forth - I'm making myself crazy too !!! It's really hard to decide. I've narrowed it down to a class A I really like, 2 5th wheels I really like and a couple of class C's - I need to go see them again and do a test drive of the motorhomes. Good luck ! It's alot to think about Trudy and Maui Molly the hula dog

The link for the bike dolly was perfect! thanks!
I have gone full circle again. I saw a 5th wheel I liked, then came very close to putting a deposit on a travel trailer. But after sleeping on it, I do not want to drive a 3/4 ton pick up around on a daily basis. I don't want to buy gas for a 3/4 ton to go to work or buy a loaf of bread. So I am back to looking for a very used motorhome. I also think I do not want carpet in the motorhome. Are there any unusual problems with taking out carpet and replacing it with a "mopable" flooring.

The carpet is under everything. They must lay the carpet before they put in anything. I replaced the carpet in a Motorhome with the vinal wood look planks and it was like putting a puzzle together with all the things to fit around. I think they use carpet because the floor deck is not the flatest I have ever seen. I traded about 6 months after I did that so don't know how it holds up longterm.
My Motorhome now has vinal in the kitchen and bathroom and I like that. It is only 23' so the only carpet is between two couches. I went to Lowe's and bought some clear rug runner to cover the carpet. I also keep one of the green indoor/outdoor mats inside the side door to help catch dirt that is brought in.

Glenna, some on here have ripped out carpet and installed those stick on vinyl tiles...And some have installed the Pergo like wood planks...Each got it all completed and didn't act like it was overly difficult to do..
I have a friend who just tore out old and dirty carpet in a mobile they bought... They installed the Pergo plank flooring all throughout the mobile, and said it surprised them and was a piece of cake!!
Good luck!!
Enjoy your renovation...

The bedroom and my tiny living room are carpetted. And I've had to go out and buy rugs to cover the vinyl tile in the hallway and the kitchen because the dog kept doing the splits! He got to the point he was frightened to move. I love the look of the wood parquet floors, but I guess Bogie wins. It's like having a husband!

Hi gdrh!
Yes, congrats on your house selling (especially in THIS market!). And welcome to the forum.
I'm kind of an impulsive sort, and I now have a Class A after a coupla false starts. (GULP!)With all of my mistakes, here is what I've found to be important to me:
A Class A gives me more security. I'm a solo lady RV'er, and I'd lay in bed at night and think that my Class C's door could be jimmied as easily as a car's. And the semis don't blow you all over the road.
Slides. The few extra feet of space mean a LOT when living in a rig. I favor two.
Hydraulic levelers. Worth their weight in gold. NEVER again will I back up & over those #@!$ little orange things again and again and again and again.
Wardrobe space. For my rig to feel like home, I need to have more than just camping clothes. And as a single gal, I like to have a few nice things if I'm lucky enough to be asked out on a date.
Kitchen cupboard space. REALLY look at this. If you are going fulltime, can you fit in all of YOUR essentials?
By happenstance the rig I bought was plumbed for a washer/dryer combo unit. OMG!! I can bring clothes AND wash them while I'm doing my nails?? Died & gone to heaven.
Anyway, welcome welcome welcome, and keep us in the loop as you shop and find THE perfect RV for you.

Nope Janice, you can't do your nails while the washer is running, you'll end up with polish on your nose!! Ask me how I know of what I speak!! LOL!! Now and then it's good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy. Guillaume Apollinaire

Watch out Janice, Sharon will be getting you to put your foot up on the dash while driving like her!! LOL Were you painting your toenails while driving Sharon? hee-hee-hee I bought the Alfa Seeya because it has mega space for pack rats like me but the rig is made for Full-timing but it's a biggie 40 ft. I don't feel like I'm in a box, my living room slide is big and because I have high ceilings I do not feel claustrophobic.

Noooooo Jenny, I was NOT painting my toenails while driving!!! LOL! I was painting my fingernails while the washing machine was running, forgetting that when it goes into spin cycle with jeans or something heavy the whole coach feels like one of those massage chairs! Even with the air dropped and landing gear down! Had polish everywhere except where it belonged and caught the bottle of polish just before it danced off the table!! Now I wait until it goes into dry cycle before I start anything like that. Still on the learning curve!! LOL! Now and then it's good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy.
