Hi, my name is Carol and my husband passed away unexpectantly a few months ago. I will be turning 50 this year (having a GREAT year aren't I). I am considering selling everything next spring and going FT to RV living. I would be interested in knowing the following from other FT solo women:
What type of RV do you have? How do you manage all the maintenance? (That's what intimidates me the most) Does anyone Workamp? How successful have you been at getting jobs?

welcome to the forum I'm a fulltimer, but not on the road yet, I'm parked in a retirement resort and its been a quiet summer as most of them are gone from this heat. They are slowly starting to come back but don't really expect to notice any majority for a couple months yet. I have a 29ft cameo fifth wheel. (carrielite) I've always been pretty much a diy but the maintenance with a fifth wheel is just a tad different than a stick house. It hasn't stopped me, just slowed me down to figure out the "fix" on something. I've done well with the help of these great folks on the forums. I learn lessons sometimes the hardway and other times just out of necessity. I'm looking forward to hitting the road hopefully next summer. By then I should have a truck to pull this thing with. It is just me and the two dogs. Both are italian greyhounds. Come by often, and get some tips. Somewhere out there is an rv just waiting for you. There are several ladies here that do the workamp thing. I'm sure they will show up sooner or later as its a holiday weekend and they are probably working. Welcome Carol! Five years ago I too lost my husband with no warning whatsoever. I never thought I'd actually feel joy again, but it does come. I have an old Class A in which I live and travel. I have been Workamping for the last 4 months, with 2 more months to go. I lived with no costs at all, full hookup, sewer, water, electric and Propane. Restaurant meals were 50% off, with unlimited, salads, soups, and desserts thrown in free. All hours worked were paid for. I do have Social Security, all of which I banked. I am 69 years old, and have no intentions of giving up this lifestyle anytime soon. I'm in negotations for a job in Florida right now. I decided to work because I'm going to change over from the Class A to a truck and TT or 5th wheel and need to build up my noney buffer again. I depend heavily on Good Sams Emergency Roadside Service. Well worth the money. That and a cell phone are must haves for a woman traveling alone. I love living like this - I've seen some beautiful places and met some wonderful people.

I've heard there are RV maintenance classes "out there". I'd love to take one of those if I do this thing. Also, a driving class!

Do want to extend a hearty welcome to our Forum, and surely am happy you chose to post..
I sent you a Personal Message with websites of Workkamping information..
I am not a FT... nor do I any longer Workkamp..I used to, and I feel there are jobs out there for you..
I don't know if you've experienced RVing..or if you are familiar with the different units.. If not...I'd do some visiting of RV Dealers and check out what is available, to find out which one catches hour fancy.
