Hi Everyone! I'm leaving So. Cal's heat Wed. to fly to New England for 2 weeks to visit friends and family, and spend some time on Cape Cod with my best buddy. Sun! Sand! Surf! Lobster! Am I making you all jealous? I'm flying because at $265 R/T it beats the $2,000 in gas for the rig! I'm gonna miss my forum fix, tho. How will I manage? I won't know what you gals are all talking about! I'll have to play catch-up when I get back. Hope you all stay healthy and have some great stuff for me to read!

Evie, hopefully your friend has a computer....if you stay at a motel in your travels, some of them have 'pooters in the office for guests....or maybe you have a laptop you can take with you? Get on with wifi? Whatever, safe travels to you and have fun! PICTURES! I want a picture of a lobster!!
Hope is in the driveway, waiting for the water to heat so I can start cleaning.....I may need to take armament out with me, the spiders have moved in and taken a stand....do believe I heard a tiny voice yelling "AIM...FIRE!!" This may be one of those Gulliver things! LOL! Leaving Tuesday if I survive the attack of the spiders!! Now and then it's good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy. Sharon, you too will be beating the heat! I've started looking out the winter woolies and the electric blanket!

Pooker, Yes, you are certainly making me jealous as I'm ah Mainah - Ayuh! (Not to be confused with a Mainiac. A Mainah is born and raised in Maine and leaves. A Mainiac is born, raised, leaves, and returns to live in Maine). Tried to fly back up there from my govt trip to Dahlgren VA, but it would've cost me almost $1000. I could've flown into Portland for a little less, but I just couldn't see spending that kind of money when I still plan on going home for my 30 year reunion this time next year (hopefully). Love my Maine Lobstah! and Steamahs, and fresh corn on the cob and baby new potatoes, and mac salad (boo hoo hoo....sobbing uncontrolably)...I wanna Goooooooo! The heat here in SoCal has been absolutely ruthless. Can't even get any comfort at night. Was triple digits for most of the day today. Just can't get comfy. Go take a cold shower, come out, wipe off and within 15 mins. you're hot and sweaty again. Any way, Pooker you have a wonderful time in Cape Cod and don't worry about us...we'll be here and you'll have plenty to read about when you get back. Go have fun, and relax.
Sharon, I hear those little voices screaming Heeeeeeeelp Meeeeeeeeeeee Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp Meeeeeee all the way down here in Esco. Have mercy on their poor souls. Hey, they'll keep the bad bugs away. ;) LOL Have a fun/safe trip. By the way...we need to see an updated photo of Chewy. She should be all growed up by now :)
My friend Ruth wants me to take her to the Grand Canyon and has said she'd help pay for expenses so maybe I can do a little road trip 3rd or 4th week of Oct or 1st week in November. I am not going anywhere in this horrible heat if it's like this everywhere else or if my finances don't improve.
Sparkle, maybe you could give me a little inside scoop on where I should camp and what we should try to do on a one week (2-3 day in the canyon area) stay. :) When will you be finishing up with our workcamping job there?
I wanted to see about venturing to Carlsbad Caverns, but I think I should allow for more time than a week. Will have to save that trip for around April?
Stay cooooooooooooool ladies :8|:

Hi Pooker! You're coming to my neck of the woods, although I am not on the Cape. The Cape after Labor Day is absolutely the best - sand, sun, beach, shops and no crowds!!
While the rest of the country has been sizzling this summer, we have been enjoying the coolest non-humid summer I can remember... have I told you how much I hate hot and humid? It's been simply delightful this year. You should be in for a treat if the weather holds - this week, at least, they are forecasting more of the same of this delightful weather, heating up some this weekend. Have a great time.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to nicer temperatures. Yesterday 112, today a cool 105 brrrrr.
My roots are in Western Mass, Leslie, but it's been nice there, too. Hope it stays that way next week.
Donna - my Nana lived in Maine and called herself a Mainiac, but I have great memories of Old Orchard, lobstah, Marginal Way, lobstah, Acadia, lobstah, and down the rud a peece directions. Now I'm wishing I could be there, too. But I also remember ice forming on a bowl INSIDE the house in winter.
