Intro

I am really glad to have found this site this week. Just reading old posts has given me confidence about my plans for the future. I bought an old RV that needs some work. I plan to get this accomplished over the next few months. Right now the RV is my home. I didn't have the problem of getting rid of my accumulation of stuff. A house fire took care of that. I lost my home and my 89-year-old father in one night. I never thought at this point in life I would be starting over from scratch again. My RV is parked at a campground a few miles from where I had lived. I am retired and I work part-time. When the time is right, I plan to hit the road and do a little traveling. Maybe someday I'll even be able to put faces to the names I am reading about on this list.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your Father and all your belongings!! That is surely an awful thing to happen in one's life!!
I am so happy to hear that our postings have helped to give you new heart and determination to face life with a dream of one day traveling..and meeting RVing friends..
What kind of RV do you have? I have a friend in CA that bought an older motorhome and they repainted, put in new flooring, covered furniture, put in new curtains.. Had to build a table top for the dinette.. She sent photos as the work progressed and I was amazed at the difference that was made... Good too was the fact they enjoyed the project and renovation SO much..and felt such pride and a sense of accomplishment in their job well done!
Meanwhile enjoy working on the RV and keep on coming back and join us in posting!! Hurry back, you hear?

Oh, how sad to have lost your father that way, you certainly have my sympathy. You can always get new belongings, but never a new dad. My sincere sympathy to you.
There are a lot of people who buy an older rig and restore it. In the end they have a real prize. So don't worry about that,.. And also this way you can be sure it's what YOU want for interior, etc.

Hello and welcome. . . I'm really new here. . . wonder if I'm allowed to welcome you? I sure hope so.
I'm glad you found us.
I'm sad for your loss.
I'm facing the same thing, here. . . 'cept the only death is a 23 year relationship. (it's a pleasant one, though, so there's no drama!)
We're heading to CA so I can buy a 2003 Roadtrek and will spend the fall crusing around from Montana to the eastcoast - gotta see those fall colors. . . then I'll be back in Montana with the soon to be exSO to spend the winter skiing. . . then we're selling our estate and I'm goin' back out on the road. . . maybe we can connect some where along the line.
I'm really looking forward to meeting ladies who are RVers. . . seems like we're an interesting, DO IT kinda bunch.
It would be nice to share some laughs with you and help cheer you up. . . in order to recover from your loss.
Find a little magic and try to keep it alive. . . and keep us posted.

Welcome Missipp, I bought an 1984 Class A that I have thoroughly enjoyed for over two years. I've been workamping all summer and have saved enough to give me the option of trading the Class A in for something newer. Congratulations on literaly rising from the ashes of your disaster. Some people would have just bemoaned their fate. This is a great life and may you have many happy years in your RV.

Sorry to hear you had to go through such awful trauma, but glad you found us. When the time is right for you to head out, no matter which direction you head you will probably find one of us somewhere along the way. Hang in there, keep posting, and make your plans.

Hi there Missipp and welcome glad you found us too. I live in my fifth wheel also and look forward to being able to hit the road and do some sightseeing. I'm sorry for the loss of your dad but the other things can be replaced and you wouldn't have room for it now anyway. I got rid of everything I had except my current wardrobe and my sewing machine and quilt fabric collection. I hope to get back into doing quilts, just small ones though for the rescue dogs. I have two IGs that live in my fifthwheel with me and they keep me plenty occupied and entertained. Keep us posted how your remodeling project goes, love to hear stuff like that. Thanks for all the welcomes. I have to use a computer at the library so I am slow to respond. Thanks again. I really appreciate your support. Some of my friends are still waiting for me to get a "real" home. I have one; they just won't recognize it yet because it has wheels. Another friend laughed when I told her what I was doing. Before I could get offended, she explained that this was something she had wanted to do but didn't. I'm proud of my rv/home (leaks and all). OH, NO. Just as I typed that it started pouring down rain here. I may have to revise that statement a little when I get home and my bed is wet again (if the tarp moved and let rain in). If so, I'll just sleep on the couch again and wait for things to dry out.

I had been yelling at my dog for peeing on the floor. Always when I was out and always on the same spot. He curled up in embarresment and shame and swore he wouldn't do it again - but he did! Then I was home when it started to rain. Guess what - there is a leak in the vent just over the spot where Bogie was supposed to be peeing. Should I apologise to a dog...?

Poor Bogie!!! Of course you should apologize and give lots of treats to try and make up with him. That, and fix the vent. Laughing while I am typing this.
