Do any of you use the CoPilot GPS System? If so, I have some questions. Do you like it? Did you have to get additional programs or "stuff" for your laptop in order to use it? It sounds more RV oriented than some of the others, but is it hard to use if you're driving alone? Is it expensive to update?
How come this went on the Newbies instead of Open Forum?

I have DeLorme as my GPS. I travel alone and I find that DeLorme is not up to date on every twist and curve of the road. So I turn the sound down and just drive the road. I can glance at it once in awhile to see my next turn. It helps in the larger cities but DeLorme has to be coached into a more direct route. Lest way I don't like some of the roads it takes. So I study the roads on an atlas and correct the GPS to where I want to go. I am full-time RVer. Widowed and 65 yrs. First year out but learning as I go. I have a 3/4 ton GMC truck and a 30ft. Fifth wheel. Loving every minute of it. Currently in Black Hill of SD.

I got rid of my GPS - most say I'm crazy - but I never was following what it told me to do - and travelling alone, it's just as easy for me to do what I do.
I do plan my basics with Microsoft Streets and Trips - then, I never follow my plans cuz I'm always seeing something I want to stop and see, etc. But I have the basics, and if I want to stop and turn my computer on - I can do so and open the program and make adjustments. I never do that either though - I go to my trusty atlas - and either work back to my original route - or find another way.
Now, if I was one who usually stayed on my route - I'd probably have liked it better. Most love the ones they have. I haven't used the brand you're asking about. Smiling is contagious - try it!

I just got one of those Garmin Nuvu 680 on Ebay (saved about $400-$500). Haven't received it yet, but have done massive research and figured I couldn't go wrong. Used a Garmin while on travel for work in Pensacola FL and it was awesome! Hoping it will be a worthwhile purchase...if not...may have to regift it for Christmas - tee hee hee....LOL :p :eg: ;) Live, Love, Laugh - Aloha Donna & Willie 05 32' Seabreeze Class A 07 Jeep Liberty Ltd

I have DeLorme. I only use it when:
1. I'm lost...to help me get back on the desired route or to a particular destination (usually in a city)
2. To find the closest laundromat, Walmart, campground etc.
I rarely have it on while I'm driving, and then only when I have several turns to make in an unfamiliar area. Otherwise I simply refer to a map. See you down the road, Liz and Roe (dog) '99 Roadtrek 170

Hi Evie,
We use the Co-Pilot and I love it. I have it set up on my laptop. We have used it for about 4 years now. You buy it and load it. If you are traveling alone, it will give you verbal turn by turn. It will also give speed warnings and other information that can be helpful. Like any of these systems, it gives maps of the entire US and since these are put into the program, sometimes there are errors, but we find it to be correct over 95% of the time.
Hope this helps.
