What type of lubricant is used the windows, hinges and storage compartment closures? The owner's manual says to use a 'light oil', what is a light oil? Won't a petroleum based product damage or destroy gaskets and seal devices. Seems that I remember being told many years ago to only use a silicone based product on anything that may have a gasket or seal.

I confirmed the only lubricant that should be used near rubber or plastic is silicone. One can purchase silicone spray lubricant in the hardware department, near other lubricants, such as petro-based oils.
Hope this helps someone preserve there gaskets and seals.

Sorry, I missed your question initially - but you are definitely right about silicone lubricant being the correct one to use! Smiling is contagious - try it!
