I am so happy to locate this site!! I have been a widow 27 yrs, retired 3 and Chinook RV owner 4 days. I have travelled for employment and pleasure and now for adventure. I know I can can do it because your posts tell me I can. It is just a bit scary. I do not have an owner's manual and wondered if anyone knows where I can purchase one? I have contacted the mfg. but have not heard back. Also, what rv clubs offer the most for your money, and finally, what insurance company do you recommend"? I got a quote from Good Sam's and it was $1200/yr. My rv is a 1991 and that really seems high. :80:

Yes, you can surely do it... Just make your plans..start slow with a trip to a nearby park. Get your "RV-ing legs" as it were...slowly..
Have you done a Google Search for Chinook Owner's Manual? You may come up with something that way.
We use our regular Insurance Agent here in town...and have been pleased with his price...and the fast service/repairs we get thru them. I'd say that $1200 is high for your Chinook... Our yearly premium for a 2005 Dodge Diesel 4 door truck; a 2005 Toyota Prius, and a 2007 Jayco Eagle 32' Travel Trailer is $1,186.00. Keep shopping!!
Enjoy your upcoming adventures... and keep coming back!! We are so glad you posted... and WELCOME!!!

FYI
I pay $600 per year for my '99 Born Free (class C), 26 ft. It's included in my house & my auto coverage. Tho, I don't know if that makes a difference. If they (the insurance companies) base it on cost of the RV, well, all I can say is my BF was pretty expensive...Hope that helps...I think you can do far better...please check further.
As far as your traveling...don't be afraid...do your homework, plan your trips close to home at first and join the rest of us that travel solo and with family, and enjoy the freedom & beauty of our wonderful country! :)
Safe & happy travels to you!

Dear "Now",
Welcome! I join the rest of our "sisters" in saying that you should keep shopping for your insurance. That price seems outragous. I have my small TT ins. as part of my total package with my local agent. I have my homeowners, my vehicle and my camper all together. My total package is only $1052! And I have excellent coverage.
Hang in there and keep shopping!

Welcome, Now! Hope to see you on the adventures some day. I found best insurance for my 26' RV was with Progressive. Check them out before you make a final decision.

Hello and Welcome!! This site is the best and I found it when I got my RV (Haven't been on in a while as I was in school....Graduated finally) You will find that RVers are some of the most friendly and helpful folks. When you're out there traveling and get in a bind with something, you have more help than you ever expected! Something breaks and everyone shows up at your site with a wrench. You'll have fun adding your personal touch to your RV. I listened to other RVers on this forum and learned some excellent tips. Short trips will be a great way to learn what you need and can't live without. Enjoy!

If you are a member of AARP, I recommend you check out their insurance, also. I switched to them a couple years ago and got the best rate. And something happened this year which I have never before seen in auto insurance - my rate went DOWN when I got my premium!
Smiling is contagious - try it!

I certainly do understand, "I'm scared". Last weekend
was my 4th time out since purchasing my first travel trailer. My knuckles are white a good bit of the time that I'm driving, but it is definitly getting easier. Still so much to learn. Found this site last week and it has already been such a help. Best to you in
your new adventure.
