Since I am divorced I have to get insurance for my fifth wheel and TV. I have tried GMAC-Good Sam and It looks to be best. Any pearls of wisdom Charlette Moore

You may want to get a quote from Progressive too. They are through the internet. But I've heard that the GMAC Good Sam is pretty inexpensive so they might not be able to beat them.

We insure ours through our local insurance company who carries all our insurances... We found them to be the cheapest rate going. If something should happen, we know our agent...and know he will handle everything and take care of us..
Of course KNOWING your agent is one of the beauties of living in a small town... Grin..
Happy RVing...

I am with you on this one Joella,.. I also have all my insurance with a local agent. Oh yes, don't you just love the first name basis? And yes, the rate is still far better than those big advertisers! Gotta love it! ;) Cedar Adirondack Mts. in NY '02 Ford Escape '04 Chalet Arrowhead (C-->)

Well, my local agency doesn't cover RVs, so I had to look elsewhere. I tried them first because I have been with Allstate since forever. I then did the Progressive and they were able to give me a reasonable rate. However, I understand that for those of us who do not full time, the Good Sam insurance will give you the option of having a different "less expensive" coverage while parked and not in use and then you can call them when you are hitting the road and the "full coverage" will kick in.

That is a neat option, Paulette!
Good Sam does cover our Medicare Supplemental...and was the cheapest place going... pays well... and covers all... No rules on what we can or can't have "done"... I've been very pleased...Which doesn't mean I don't keep checking on prices... Grin..
Just filled my first bunch of Wal-mart $4 prescriptions on Monday...Loved saving that $119.28 monthly....Made my whole month!!! :)

I've heard good things about that insurance Paulette. I have a C - but when I was shopping around, I got the best rate for the coverage I wanted by going through AARP and Hartford. And when I had the tire blowout and damage this fall - they handled it fast, efficiently, fairly and I was amazed.
I don't know if they have the option to pause the insurance - but I would check them out if your an AARP member.
Smiling is contagious - try it!

Well, I don't quite qualify for AARP...yet. It's coming right around the corner though. Whenever I finally get to go full-time, I will shop around for insurance again. For now, I'm satisfied with the Progressive. Of course, I have never had to file a claim (knock on wood) so I can't tell you how prompt they are at making good.

My car insurance is with GEICO because I've been with them for soooooooo long and my rate can't be beat. However, they don't cover RVs like other companies and so I went with Progressive as we have our Bass Boat through them as well, which resulted in a multi-discount. May check out the Good Sam option though as I am not full-timer and I like the sound of that option to turn it on and off.
