Hi Everyone, I just joined this forum today and you are a great bunch of people. I have been looking for an RV for quite some time (taking my time). Either a class C or a camper van. Something 24' or under. I'm 59 years old and single so I don't want to waste any more time,LOL. The only thing is I hate to do it alone and would like to find other RVrs to travel with. I live in Gatlinburg, TN and I know a lot of you come through this area. May we could meet up and I could find out about your RVing experiences. The only family I have are my kids and they are all grown and have their own families and also live in 4 different states (IL, TN, NC and VT) I am tired of being alone and need that little push to get me out on the road.

Hi Britt, Welcome to our forum! I'm 58, a widow and have an 18' Roadtrek Class B motorhome. I started RVing in 2004 when my sister-in-law (also a widow) invited me to travel during the summer with her in her 22' Jayco Class C. We went west to Yellowstone, also seeing the Badlands of SD, and other places along the way. I loved it so much I had to get my own RV. We still often travel together. I live in FL and she is in NC. Perhaps you know someone who is also alone as you are who would jump at the chance to travel with you. Having children in four states gives you many comfortable destinations to start with! Hello Brittgirl. I just joined the forum today also. Actually today was the first time I've ever viewed this forum. I'm very impressed. I surprised that there are so many women that RV. I am alone, but I joined a club called NAARVA last summer. I have been slow about getting started, but this spring, I will be on the road with the club and on my own as well. Wow...Gatlinburg! That's an RVers paradise isn't it? I hope to get out that way this year as well. Keep the fever! :8|: 2004 Jayco Legacy 2005 Chevy Silverado 3500 4x4 Matese: Feetch and Boomer

Welcome to Ralex and Britgirl. I guess I'm Scot girl? I'll be 69 this year and just took up RVing a couple of years ago. Alone with my dog. You can do it. If you haven't already bought an RV look at as many makes and models as you can so you can learn what type and layout you like. Or do what I did, buy the 3rd one you look at because it has a darling little sink! You will enjoy this Forum, learn a lot, have a laugh, sympathise or get sympathy. and once you are on the road you'll have a great life. 1984 Class A Allegro(Miss Piggy) Jean the Scot Bogie the Pit (rescued) Shona the Calico Cat

Gatlinburg is a nice city, beautiful area. I am fairly new. Spent a couple of days going back through all the posts and catching up. I decided to join up because in reading the past posts I realized that if I had any questions this is where I could find an answer and moral support. Don't be afraid to jump in and go it alone. Like the commercial says...just do it. You'll meet plenty of people along the way. Sometimes bringing someone along keeps you in your 'comfort zone' and can prevent you from trying something new. Maybe you could make your first trip to visit one of the kids? That would give you a destination and a jumping off point. Where is your IL kid? I'm in cent IL getting my ducks in a row

Britt,
Welcome. I am fairly new here too. I own a motorhome but only purchased it in November. Ex and I went to Gatlinburg in October of 2005 and I loved it. It had been 30+years since I had been there and it had really grown. We only stayed 3 days and I am hoping to get back again real soon. Once the spring comes I may make a trip there. Will let you know and maybe we can get together. It sure is pretty there (and crowded).

Welcome to our little virtual camp. These are a great bunch of women, so competent and so upbeat. Whatever you decide, know you're not alone. I'm 59 and solo, too, fulltiming in a 23' class C, and learning and loving it as I go along.

Welcome, Brit - glad to have you with us.
I'm near Hunstville, AL for the winter. And my rv is small - a 23' Class C - I love it.
Glad to have you here.
Smiling is contagious - try it!

Hi Britgirl, well sounds like you have a several great reasons/incentive to head on out. Excellent destinations with warm welcoming arms of family. You can't beat that with a stick. Hope you enjoy the forum, full of laughs, support, and really neat women. You'll quickly become addicted to the need to see what's going on with everyone and the wealth of knowledge in these threads is priceless. So pull up a chair, sit a spell, and welcome.
