Wow, just signed up and boy, does this sound like just what I'm looking for, women RVers, some who travel alone. I'm doing a feasibility study of this lifestyle as I get ready to retire. I know absolutely nothing about RVing and I'm just starting my research and have lots of questions since I don't know where to start. However, I'm finding the quest for knowledge fun and exciting already. I'm single (62) and my first question is can I really do this at this age and alone. Looks like I just may find the answer here. Let me keep reading the forums. Sounds like a fun bunch. I'm so excited, I'm going to an RV show in Atlantic City, NJ next month to check out a few. I'm looking to eventually become a full timer with a Class A mobile home but will go the renting route with something smaller this summer just to see if this is even a feasible dream. So much to learn, so little time. Oh, and did I say I was excited?

Hi Grannyrod!!!   SO happy to have you join us.  I'm glad you liked the tone of the Forum.... we are all gals here...some married, single, divorced, widowed..  We come from all walks of life....but the one thing we have in common is our love of RVing. I'm one of the married ones.... for 52 years this month --- and at the time being we pull a 30' Jayco Eagle Trailer with two sides.  I love it... but due to dear husbands health issues,, we've not moved it for nearly two years... he's better now and I will  go to our Texas Rally the latter part of  November.

We are diverse in lifestyles....and we are also different in our choices of types of RV's.  Our Forum Sisters own and drive/pull all types!

Yes, YES, YES you can do this... We have many who have been right  where you are now...and followed their dreams and in time realized all dreams and are delighted to now be an RV owner and on the roads.

Although our postings are rather general in tone now... our Sisters are quite knowledgeable on RV's and all RVing subjects... When you come back on ---- switch to the Open Discussion section and begin asking away... We would all be delighted to help you out and to discuss RVing!!

Where are you from?  What is your first name?  We go by first names here....if you like...as we get to feeling like family and sisters.  Please make yourself at home and KNOW you are most welcome.

We had our software changed...and I am believing you are the first newbie we've picked up in a LONG time...where did you happen to come across our website, if you remember?  Beings we haven't had a newbie in so long, don't be  surprised if you get a "winner's welcome".... Grin.

Thanks for posting!  We are DELIGHTED you are  here!

Hurry back and happy RV dreaming!

Joella

Welcome ! I'm glad you joined us.

It's so exciting to think about a new lifestyle !!!

You can RV alone - lots of the ladies here do just that and love it !!! I think renting is a good idea, that way you'll know if it's for you. Fulltiming is different from vacationing, but renting will give you a good idea of the mechanics involved and you can see what it's like to stay at a campground and meet some of the wonderful people that are there. Maybe you can even manage to join some of the ladies here - once you know when you'll be hitting the road you'll have to let us know and then see who's where and if you can "hook up" !!!

Post all your questions, comments and "musings" in the general section and we can help you along on your journey !! Yippee !!!

Why thank you so much Joella and Mollysmom for that warm welcome. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions for the General Talk section. My name is Angela and I live in Bowie, Maryland. I won't be able to do much traveling before next summer when I take my first trip in an RV but I'd love to hook up with some of you one of these days. Thanks again. I love kindred spirits. Oh, and I first saw a link to your site on Go RVing. Glad I clicked.

Welcome Angela!

I am a 58 year old, single woman who is RVing full time. Well - right now some dear friends asked me to spend the winter with them in Escondido, CA, so my Alpenlite is in storage right now. I tow a big fifth wheel as I could get more space in the fifth wheel than in the class A's I could afford. At the show go look at the Rexall's. They have great floor plans and huge slides - they are a moderately priced class A. They might appeal.

At any rate - yes, you can do this, and you have come to the right place! A year ago I was in your shoes, and scared to death, and having to come to this because of the economy - and everyone was so wonderful, and answered so many questions, and are so welcoming and loving, and gave me the courage to actually go out and do it! And, I love it! I truly feel my Alpenlite is home. I've made it feel like mine and I love the compactness of it.

So go forth, and we'll be here to do the hand-holding! We're REALLY good at it!

Awww, thanks so much Kerry. This is so helpful. I'm sure I'll be confused and overwhelmed at the show so having a brand to check out first really helps. Nice to know you were in my shoes recently and were scared too. I've been greatly encouraged by the welcoming committee and what I've read so far in the threads and forums. Right now I'm torn between a 5th wheel and a class A as I read the pros and cons but I'm sure I'll get a better feel at the show. The other thing that's amazing to me, listening to the old-timers, is that whatever I decide on at first probably won't be my last RV. Who knew?

Anyway, thanks again for your welcome and encouragement. I believe you when you say the people are wonderful hand-holders here and that's good as I'll be holding out my shaky little scared hand in the beginning. I'll be reading/learning more today as I catch up on some back threads. I'll be back. Peace!

Hi, Angela, and welcome!

I just bought a class b+ motorhome last month. I'm single and plan to take trips around my area with it. I love my 'stick and brick' home and being near my family too much so I don't plan to fulltime.

Yes, I think renting a motorhome would be a great idea. It can be expensive, so be prepared for that part.

Do you have any favorite hobbies?

Look forward to hearing again from you!

Welcome Angela! So glad you found us :) I'm a solo full timer too, so yes...you CAN do this! Although, I'm not retired yet. That won't be until 2028 lol, but I couldn't wait to embark on this lifestyle. So I work my way through it. Right now, I have the best of both worlds :) So only imagine what fun you can have not being on a schedule of any kind.

Welcome aboard, and feel free to ask any questions. If we don't know the answer, we know who has it.

Love,

Sharon

Hello Everyone! thanks for the invite Joella. this looks like a great way to meet new people. My husband and children and I are the proud owners of a 2001 Class A Gulfstream. It's one of a kind. We have only seen another one like it only twice and I believe it was the same motorhome both times. You don't see too many green motorhomes on the road. We are only vacation type RVer's. We still have quite a few years until we can retire and hopefully RV full time. Right now the RV is parked and winterized, waiting for the snow to come. I know it's a nasty 4 letter word but since we live in New England, it's something we have to deal with. Looking forward to posting on the site! Take care.

Patti, I'm so delighted you chose to join us.  You are so very welcome here.  You are beginning right where we did... Motorhome, vacationing, two kids and dogs!  All a formula for family fun and togetherness.  Our kids still get to talking about places we took them all their lives.

Thanks so much for checking us out--- and for joining our Forum.  Come back often and let us get to know you better.

Happy RVing!
Joella
