Welcome! Choosing an RV is like choosing a house - different people have dfferent requirements for what's important to them. You've gotten good advice here - go look at as many different kinds of rigs: motor homes and trailers as you can. Take your time to explore the different types and which type appeals to you the most then you can start to narrow down your search within the type to a specific manufacturer and model and then search for one that fits your requirements: condition, new or used, price, etc. There are probably going to be compromises (unless you have unlimited money and then you can just have one custom built LOL!) And you need to figure out what's important to you and what you can accept even if it's not ideal.
I started out thinking I wanted a Class C - but then fell in love with a trailer! and that was because there were too many things about a Class C that I didn't want to deal with: driving a big box in the wind, lesser gas mileage, having to take it everywhere because if I was in a campground and needed to go to the store I'd have to drive the whole rig - and I didn't want a toad, etc. etc. The trailer suits my style much better, I get decent gas mileage, it tows exceptionally well in the wind, and I loved the interior, decor etc., better than anything else and I can tow it with the truck I have which I like very much, and I have the truck for boogieing around! All of this to say that you won't know what will work for you until you do some research - but that can be a lot of fun - it was for me once I learned to speak the language!
Take your time and be sure to ask us anything you want to know. There's a wealth of info here and lots of willingness to help - no question is a stupid one - we were all newbies once. Enjoy your search.

Welcome!! I too am at the looking stage. My hubby will retire in about a year. So we have been looking, taking notes and getting a lot of advice from wonderful RV'ers. One of the best things we did was attend a seminar at the RV show in Tampa. It was free and I took alot of notes, which I always take along to dealerships....and they will sell you anything so be careful. We have also been to a couple of campgrounds and just stopped and talked to people, we have lots of fun doing that. But this forum, along with the general forum, will teach you alot!!! just take your time, do your research and you'll make a great decision for you! Again welcome to the forum!

I'm a little late in responding. My DH and I bought a Class C when we retired and traveled for 3 years before buying a Class A. Liked both, just different. My sister and BIL eventually bought a 5th wheel. They attended the Quartzite GTG before buying, got to look around, meet people, ask a lot of questions before making a decision. We also rented a C and A before buying, which helped. Good luck and enjoy the journey toward RVing, in any style. carold
