Hi,
I'm new to this forum, hope to be around for awhile asking questions and giving occaisional input and answers.
Right now I've a question concerning long term residents in RV parks receiving mail at the park.
If any of you are long term residents, living in your rig parked in an RV park, have there been past or recent problems receiving your mail in the park? Have you been required to fill out a US postal application in order to receive your mail at the park?
I've lived in this one park for awhile and some changes are taking place that have me curious. I've tried Googgling the subject and have gotten nowhere.
Hope you can help.

It will be hard to answer your exact question, without knowing what changes at your park have you concerned. However, I've never had problems getting our mail in a park. Some mail is sent to the park mailing address, and park employees insert it in mailboxes or mail slots in the park office.
Some resort parks have regular U.S. Mail delivery throughout the park..and those you don't have to sign up for. The park gives you a mailing address and you let your Post Office know to send mail there from X time X time. It is delivered by the Post Office. If you wish and need to when you leave there, you can fill out an official Post Office change of address to where you are going next. I don't usually need to, as have had my mail sent there for a specific time frame.
There are mail programs through organizations such as Escapees. Those who have that are most pleased with it.

Welcome! I have a friend living in a park for 6 months at a time - we send him mail at the park address - his name c/o the park name and address and they just sort it out for all the residents. He does have to have someone forward it to him though! Again, welcome - you've joined a wonderful resource! Kerry

Most RV Parks won't even accept mail. It's too much trouble and too much responsibility. So typically, you have your mail forwarded General Delivery to the Post Office and pick it up there.
For those long term parks that will, they usually have a pretty good system set up with boxes. The Park I'm currently in has a set of alphabetical cubicles and I can have mail sent directly here instead of having it forwarded from my mail service. I have not had any problem getting my mail, but I do have to sort through all the "S's" in the cubicle to find mine. But it sure saves a lot of trips to the PO :)
I do remember filling out a form for my mail service giving them permission to handle my mail for me. I think that is pretty standard practice that the Post Office requires. They may be making the Park do that too.

Thanks for all the input. This is not a problem, just something that, in the process, was said that I have not been able to find out about.
We long term residents in this park have always gotten our mail in the parks office, put into our mail slots by the owner manager. I've never had a problem with it.
Last week we were required to fill out a USPS form giving the park the authority to handle our mail. The thing I'm curious about is a statement made, that this is being required now due to the USPS is "no longer going to forward anyone's mail" and that the park will have to be our forwarding agent if/when we move, for a sizeable forwarding fee.
That's no biggie either, as most bills and business are paid/conducted via email, online, by phone, etc. I figure any forwarding fee can be avoided by simply changing my address directly at my various business contacts, relatives, and friends.
I Googled the questionm of whether the USPS is actually going to stop forwarding anyone's mail, and I found nothing to confirm it. Am I missing something? I don't expect there to be a problem. If there is I guess I'll look into getting a PO box. Something I don't really want to do.
