My husband and I are looking for adventure! We've recently been seriously toying with the idea of selling our home, buying a 5th wheel, and living on the road. We wanted to do this 2 years ago, but had a baby and settled into home life instead. So now we have a just walking 14 month old little guy, and will probably want to have more children in the near future. We feel the wild blue yonder calling our names:)
My husband already works from home as a software developer. The idea is that he'd continue to work remotely, but I'd have to give up my business as a freelance sign language interpreter.
I'm wondering if any of you full timers have experience with life on the road with little kids? Do you have any advice or thoughts?
What about internet access? Is there enough cell phone coverage to facilitate good internet connection? If so, which provider would you recommend?
If you know of other websites that could help us know what we're getting into, we'd appreciate it! Thanks, Courtney

I don't have any first hand experience traveling with children, but I know people do it and home school them on the road.
As far as an income, your husband has the perfect job to take on the road. Internet access is commonplace in most areas. You could get a broadband connection with an verizon aircard or satellite. Wifi is also an option in many places, but I would use that as a back up since it is so sporadic.
The majority of fulltime RVers I've met are retired couples or singles. But I know there are families out there too. I would search forums until you find your niche for advise.

Welcome to the forum !!! I don't have any kids, so I'm not any help there. Try a Goggle search with "RV'ing with kids" and I bet you'll find lots of good info. I have a Verizon air card - there have been about 3 places where I had trouble getting access so if you go that way, you may want to check their coverage map to see where they do and do not have access. Welcome! I am about to embark on full-timing in a class A, on my own. However - my first trailer trip was almost 58 years ago when I slept in a box at the food of my parent's bed in their tear drop trailer. My three kids all grew up trailer camping as well. We never full-timed with them - but we did go for several weeks at a time. My only suggestion would be to keep a hidden box of goodies for your little one. You can rotate through things to keep his (her?) interest without having to add to the overall contents of your rig. As you don't have to deal with the schooling issue yet I've heard people say that the under 5 age is just perfect for having this kind of adventure. I'd scour the web for forums of families as well. I'm sure you'll find a wealth of support. To new adventures! Kerry

Courtney, what an exciting and neat plan.
Perhaps you'll find opportunities to do your freelance sign interpretation wherever you are. Good your husband's field can be done wherever.
We never full-timed, but traveled a LOT with our 2 children, and they gain a good education from "walking the walk, talking the talk" Ha! They both often bring up fun travel memories and are so appreciative of all the places they saw. In school, kids and grands could discuss places they were studying as they'd been there.
