You are all so right about the necessity for checking things out ahead of time. I was sure the Flying J would be a good spot for an overnight, but the one today had no pull-thru sites. I am better off at the KOA where I finally stopped.
Even though it is only a little after 7 pm here, I left on EST this morning so I am about ready to turn in for the night. The tension builds when you are driving, and it is such a release when you stop for the night. I should sleep well tonight.

Good for you, Gypsy! You are on your way to your own great adventures! One night down, a lifetime to go.
When you plan to stop for the night early, say around 4:00 p.m. local time, you have the option of moving on if your first choice doesn't work (like the Flying J plan - but then you can take up more than one space, you know, or go off to a corner in the back). Glad you found a better spot.
