My suggestion is to take your time, look at lots of RV's, decide what will work best for you and your son. Ask yourself if you want to drive it or tow it? What sleeping arrangements will work best?
Ask questions, lots of questions - - no question will be silly, we've all asked them and learned from others. Take as long as you need to get your questions answered.
The advice about tires is good advice. Just because they look good doesn't mean it isn't time to replace them. We recently spent $2000 on new ones for our Class A and $500 for our Class B -- it's a big expense.
You might want to try some rentals before you part with your hard earned money.
