I just found the link to this site in my favorites so I guess I've been here before and did not realize it. So anyways, I'm registered now and will try to drop by to visit when I can.
I am married and we are presently in NC preparing to be packed and outa here for northwestern Nebraska to establish a new homebase. We travel in our class A several months out of the year but really enjoy our home time too.
I like to sew, crochet, do hand embroidery, quilt, paint, garden and travel. It's a bit hard to do all those things in the motorhome but I manage to be as creative as I can.
Looking forward to chatting with you.

Welcome Sewisme, There are lots of things the gals do while on the road, Snowball crochets, I'm a beginning crocheter, I make the "Scrubbies" out of netting for washing my dishes. I love to craft but yeah where do you put stuff? So when I'm on the road I mostly do photography. Stick around we're a fun group of gals!

Welcome-------- I have all the same interests you do! I find hidey holes all over the 5er to put my craft projects when we are on the road!
We still have a home & too much property to travel a lot yet---but we are in the process of sizing down to be able to travel more & a lot more travel when hubby retires!
Again welcome!

Thanks for the hellos and welcomes!
Isn't downsizing fun -- in a way it's the most wonderfully thrilling feeling of freedom I've had. It was hard for me at 1st to "let go" but once I did I was so relieved, like a drink of cold fresh spring water on a hot day! I think most of us spent a lifetime collecting stuff and never thought we'd want to get rid of anything. But, my Mom started getting rid of stuff -- to have less to take care of and to ease the burden on those who will have to deal with it all later. She said that after a while the "stuff" begins to own you not the other way around. And I have found that to be all too true. After all what in life is most important -- our stuff or our spiritual connections to God, Family & Friends!

AMEN sewisme! We owned antique & gift shops with other businesses for over 40 years-------& we collected "everything" & resold it!!!! We bought out complete house holds for years! Well I got really sick before we had planed on selling our businesses! :( So we still have an 11,000 sq ft warehouse full of STUFF------ that is the size of a major grocery store!! We sold my shops but we still have a warehouse full of "stuff" that has to be sorted & sold! And only we can sort it-----& know what we want to do with it-- so you can't hire help to do most of it!! We live in a three story/ 5 bedroom 3 bath house--so we are sizing down!!!!!! My health is finally better-so this last week end we drove to our warehouse that is over 100 miles from where our farm is & we started the great sort! We made progress-----probably if no one knew where we had started they would not know we had done any thing but we have started! And we have a plan & we are attacking it! We are also making a place behind our warehouse on land we own for our 5th wheel -we are going to pull it over there & set it up & then we can drive over on week ends & spend the whole week end working & have a place to cook our meals & get cleaned up & sleep at night! That will make the process go faster & easier! After we get the warehouse condensed down------then it is sort what we have in the house we want to sell--& move to the warehouse ---when we have everything sorted we want to sell-----we will have open house at the warehouse for other dealers by invitation only--- & sell all the rest of the stuff-----& not have to deal with being open to the public to sell the stuff. I notified the churches in that area we will be starting the sorting------if they have families that need furniture -etc/etc- appliances-etc/etc----- It will be so nice to get a handle on things & get rid of all this stuff-------then just before Hubby retires we will put the farm on the market to sell!

Oliveoil,
It occurs to me that an estate sale company would be thrilled to help you sort, price & sell out your warehouse. Just a thought.
Oh, and welcome sewisme! This is a great bunch. This message was edited by Getup'ngo on 4-28-08 @ 5:33 PM

Every thing we have has to be sorted by us as no one else can make the decisions of if we want to keep it or sell it----or donate it or if it goes to family--etc.etc.etc-----as part of it is from our family also that have died & also business papers--family pictures-----& no one can go through OUR things & know what we want to keep & what is to be given to family & what is to be donated----- what I can sell to dealers--------no one else can go through our home & garages also & know what to do with the things we have! As some things we do want to keep! Also no one else knows the over 300 dealers I keep stored in my head-& I have done business with in the past several years & who buys what-----& when I get it sorted-- I know what dealers to call that buy & collect what!!!!!! It would cost a fortune to pay some one else to do the work IF it was possible for some one else to do it for us! As our warehouse is the size of a grocery store ---we live in a three story home & we have two garages full------ A few years ago-----I had an antique auctioneer talk me into having an auction-------we sold over $30,000 worth of inventory at that auction for $900.00----- I was sick! Won't do that again ever!!!!! I use to help friends who had estate sales price inventory-------& I use to do estate sales----If I was doing this job as an estate planner------it would cost thousands & thousands & thousands to do the work--- as it would take months & months with just this one project & it is not worth what it would cost to pay some one else---------you could never ever come out----you would go in the whole-if you didn't do the work your self!!!!!!! When I got sick & we had to close my last Antique shop-----& sell the 1800's house we had my shop in---- Hubby hired estate planners to pack up my antiques from the shop to move them to the warehouse-----& to say they did a terrible job would be an understatement------- over 700 boxes of dishes were just marked glass ware--- & not marked what patterns & were split & place setting were all separated----a complete mess---- you know there are some of those jobs you just can't pay some one else to do---- unless you want to just give it away & then pay to give it away!!!!!!!! But thanks for the suggestion!
