Well I have an easy solution to the long driving answer. When you are in a car driving a long distance you have to stop at the rest stops to stretch your legs. When you have a RV with you, you can pull over ...stretch your legs, make lunch, rest, take a nap and then get back in the drivers seat and feel refreshed.
I have a thing about bathrooms at gas stations...HATE them, always dirty! So I relish the fact I travel with my own private bathroom and ALWAYS have TP!
With fuel costs the airlines are cutting back flights and these people are stranded and at the mercy of the airports and paying much more for their trips than they wanted. If you have an RV you just hitch up and go at a whim!
When visiting relatives it is nice to have your own bed and not live in a suitcase. Gives you private time and also helps them not have to entertain you constantly so good for both of you.
Is it safe traveling alone....heck yes! My Aunt is 74 yrs old, NEVER married and has traveled all over by herself and dragged me with her when I was a kid. We had a blast and she told me you just use common sense. Aunt Rete did pack a gun but she has never had to use it. She's had campers and travel trailers and now travels in a cargo van to get away from the Summer heat with her two dogs. I keep trying to get her to get a class B so at least she can stand upright in it but she won't because she loves to park at casinos for lunch or dinners and goes into their parking garages. Casinos always have security so she never worries so she goes in to eat , play some slots and go to sleep in the van and then the next morning she is off to somewhere else. She likes state Parks. Also the dogs are her body guards!! I love to camp and take photo's thanks to my gypsy Aunt that I adore!!
Another friend of mine is Sharlene"Charlie" Minshall, after her husband died Charlie hit the road alone and has been to every state in the U.S. Canada and Mexico!!
Charlie says I may travel alone but I am never alone. You can learn more about her in my blog under my LINKS section. Wonderful funny gal!! She travels only part-time now. She has a lot over at North Ranch in Congress AZ now and back to writing her books again.
