I have always liked Muscle Dogs. Chinese Shar-Pei were pitbulls with loose skin. Bogie is aging and I've been trying to think of a Muscle Dog that would be acceptable in all campgrounds. I thought of a Boxer, but even these are on some campgrounds lists.

The funniest little kick "a" dog I've ever seen was a French Bulldog ! There was one at the dog park last summer and he was a hoot ! He was very dominant and I think he would have taken on any dog at the park. Not really my thing, but he sure was cute strutting around like a giant dog ! I think they're probably about a zillion dollars but they're very very cute ! Be the kind of person your dog thinks you are. Trudy, Molly and Murphy

I ran across this web site when I was looking for information on Labs for a friend. It gives the good and the bad points of 180 dogs to help decide which breed would suit your situation. This article addresses aggression towards other animals, the need for vigorous exercise and explains why there could be more legal issues for Bull Terriers. It did mention lots of good points but for traveling, the exercise & legal issues could be problems. http://www.yourpurebredpuppy.com/reviews/bullterriers.html
This is a good site for anyone considering getting a dog. I know how hard it is to decide rationally once you get a breed in focus!
I'm glad to hear your group is protesting the puppy mills! We were successful in shutting down a couple of puppy mills when I was involved with our local Kennel Club but it took a long time. Oprah did a show last week which told the breeding horrors of that doggie in the pet shop window. Good luck on your decision! Redetotry

Gebeeps Mom, I'd say I have a few years of dog showing, handling and breeding tucked under my belt..about 50 years ..LOL My first breed being Afghans and onward and upward...I loved every minute of it..being of the competitive nature I am... loved all the experiences..maybe not at that time but afterwards when I got my wits about me.. Met some very interesting people and still do ... I'm now retired via health issues but my fingers still play the game... That is how I came about RVing.. going all over the country both USA and Abroad..first starting out in a pull trailer (now known as a TT) and migrating up to a Class A (loads more critters)..
Yes, there are some problems with traveling with certain breeds as I have one of those on that discriminative list...Rotties......and I'm sure you can tell that I'm appalled by it, and with a group of activists fighting every step of the way... It even has come down to carrying liability on my dogs...What a world....
It also effects me joining alot of the Gals in their GTG unless I'm in driving distance that I can come and meet with them for a few hours....so I always have to do my homework.....but I did find out that last GTG I could have brought my group...I have 4...2 Rotties and 2 Chinese Cresteds (Hairless)..
Anyway before I go into a long drawn story..Welcome to the Forum and enjoy the ride with all the Gals Adventures and Stories...They are the Greatest Bunch and will help you with any of your questions and also give you great moral support..
God Bless

Gebeep - I think you are right in thinking places hear the word "bull" and immediately think pit bull. Perhaps if you said "terrier" when asked you could avoid the problem.

just wanted to say Welcome, I don't show dogs but I love to go to the local shows when they have them. I have two Italian Greyhounds, and the whippet being my second favorite breed, its safe to say the sighthound group is my favorite. So many breeds in that group I never even knew existed until this past year. Ava, Bandit and Gracie from the desert of arizona, where the wind blows and the tumbleweeds roll

I think Pooker is right...its the connotation of the word "bull" or any dog with a pugged nose. We have always had Boston Terriers and years back they were referred to as Boston Bulls. When we obtained our first BT we had neighbors up in arms because they were sure we had Pit Bull. Same thing happened when a friends daughter got a pug and the older couple next to her saw him...of course he was mean vicious animal...he has a smashed in nose and a cocky little strut! A real killer...if you bend down so he can lick you to death. dpf
