Hi everybody !! My name is Trudy and I'm still looking for a motorhome so I can retire and go full time next year. It'll just be me and my little dog and I'm so darn excited I want to leave now !! I don't know why or how I came to make this decision but it feels right. I've never even been on a RV trip before so there are lots of folks who think I'm nuts for choosing this new lifestyle. It's scary but I know in my heart this is the right thing. I'm going to give it a year - after that I'll regroup. I will have to work at least part time after my year of discovery, but I hope by then I'll have a feel for where I want to be and what I want to do. I've worked at the same company for 28 years and always (well almost always)done "what I'm suppose to do" - I think it's my turn now ! Nice to meet all of you - I'm sure we'll talk alot in the next year :) All who wander are not lost ...

Hi Trudy,
It's nice to meet you and I share your excitement! I wish I could just pack up and go now too, but there is just so much to do to prepare for a life on the road. It is a total lifestyle change.
I hope you find your dream home real soon.

Welcome to our Forum, Trudy! We are so happy you joined and posted... Glad to have ya!!
Everyone's dream is not the same..and as you can see from reading this Forum..many of us share your dream of full-timing. Isn't it wonderful you have hit that stage in your life where you can kick the traces and do what you wish..go where you want and thoroughly lolly-gag around in your own personal "Trudy time"!!!
Good luck to you...keep on coming back.
Your "all who wander are not lost"...reminds me, On our last trip to Branson, MO... we were in the RV park and a trailer came by THREE times...and written on the back was All Who Wander Are Not Lost... I commented to my DH....that I believed in their case...that wasn't true...as was their 3rd time around! The came by yet another time...Reminded me of a dog....circling and circling before it settles down to rest!! LOL
Happy RV Hunting!!! :) Joella

Trudy, congratulations!! No one but another person that has done what you want to do would understand. I do not RV fulltime, but I travel all I can. I felt just as you do, for 50 years lived under everyone else's schedule and rules, now it is MY TIME. I have loved the traveling, the adventure of what is around the next curve or the next mountain top.
I had never driven an RV (motorhome) before, and went down the interstate 50 MPH gripping the wheel my first trip. Now I get out there and run 65 and no problems. Have been over the mountains, through cities (Atlanta) and come out on the other side. I thank God everytime I make another trip that it was a good trip.
So get your unit enjoy it every day and share your adventures with us. When you are close to one of us yell out.

Thanks everybody ! The thought of driving away that first time is scary !!!!! I can't imagine driving a giant vehicle like that but I know I'll figure it out. As far as my "all who wander are not lost" quote, I do need to add ".. but I probably am" to that - I do get lost darn near everytime I go anywhere !!! It does make for some interesting adventures All who wander are not lost ...

I've owned my 27ft Rv for two years now, lived in it full time for a year and am traveling fulltime. Workamping for 6 months and then free free free! I DO remember that first drive on my own, knees shaking, tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth. I think it was Jomilt that said, Oh yes, we all drive with suckers hanging out of our mouths until we get used to it. I had to force myself out the first time, but believe me, after 20 miles its a cinch! I still wake up and look around with pleasure and no regrets. You will too!

Mollysmom, you too will do wonderful. It is a bit worrisome the first time out, if it wasn't I would then worry as you need a healthy respect for the unfamiliar to be safe. It took the salesman approx 45 mins to coax me into driving the A I have now and she's only 32'. I was certain I would hit something or someone. BUT...like the rest of the ladies in this forum, I did it, and not being retired yet, can only dream of the day I can do it whenever I want! Okay ladies don't take that the wrong way!
