I'm a newbie. Been lurking for several weeks and it seems like a friendly group so here I go, joining in. I am few years shy of an early retirement, which for me simply means redefining how I make a living. Divorced, sitting one day out back enjoying my yard and realized that alone, this really sucked, (not the divorced part!)and I don't want to be sitting here thinking the same thing 20 years from now. I also never want my kids to feel 'tied' to this town, nice as it is, just because 'mom' is here. The next day the tax bill came....52% higher. That sealed the decission I'd been thinking about for some time. Now I have my heart set on a 32' (or so) A or C with a slide. Going to get back into flea marketing, do alittle workamper, but mostly meet new people and try new things. Now I'm spending this time socking away every spare penny for my 'dream home', perging myself of the 'stuff' in my life, and doing my homework. I'm not totally new to the rv life. We had a 22' that we vacationed in for several years. It was nice for the weekends out but a bit cramped for the family. The parents have had some rv's but are no longer able to travel. At least that's what mom has convinced dad.:( (long story)I've told the kids that they need to always live somewhere that's great to visit and have a big driveway! This is the first time in my life that I've actually been looking forward to retirement and am enjoying the planning ahead. Now....just counting the days (still a 4 didget midget.....that's one for the military minded out there) getting my ducks in a row

I'm glad that you decided to join in. We all love a newcomer. Everybody has something to contribute. As you've seen from our posts we don't just talk about RVing, and we never stay on the subject. We never know what tangent we'll go off on. So keep on reading and posting. You'll have your down days, and we're there for ya, you'll have your up days and we'll all cheer along with you. You are never alone on this Forum. I couldn't sleep last night and I got up and checked the forum at 2.30am and there were 3 members browsing. I read the posts and went back to bed knowing I wasn't the only one wandering around in the dark. 1984 Class A Allegro(Miss Piggy) Jean the Scot Bogie the Pit (rescued) Shona the Calico Cat

Hi, there, futurefulltimer. Glad you're here and posting. I'm going to start full-timing January 1 in a 23-ft rig, so have been spending lots of time selling/giving away almost everything. My new life is going to be financed mainly through a somewhat generous upcoming divorce settlement (got the first payment today) as well as workamping and doing other things to bring in needed funds. This is really doing it on a shoestring, but it will work and I'm getting really excited about it.
This is a great group and I love every minute of reading and posting. So many ideas, helps, poetry, places to go, ways to look at things, and many other things about this new life. "Live well, laugh often, love much."

Hi, Sparkle,
I might have been one of those night-owls last night. However, I think you're about three hours ahead of me so it was really only 11:30 here.

Hi Future - Welcome to this forum. Lot's to learn and share. I had same feelings when I semi-retired/laid off earlier than planned. I thought I can either stay where I am for the next 20 years, bored, unhappy or see the country and change the lifestyle. I lined up my ducks (enough but not completely - still own my house, rented, and have to decide on that) and took off. The adventure and freedom was fantastic. After six months back in Fl trying to line up the rest of those ornery ducks! If I had known how great an experience the traveling is I would have somehow done it much earlier. Good luck on all your planning for your future. Marysdream Its all good!!!!!
