How Was Your Week?

Sounds like you are certainly keeping busy! Guess we don't have to worry about you pining away staring at cactus. My weeks have been a bit like yours. One medical appointment led to more tests, another call from the doctor's assistant to send me back for a repeat blood test, CT scan, etc. Plus I have a 91-year-old friend a few streets away who is getting to that point where she may have to give up driving, so I've also been driving her to a couple of her medical appointments.

The good thing is that I have met so many people since I moved here, and joined a few of the many groups available - there are dozens. The bad thing is that now I have so many things to attend that every day is busy and I sometimes feel overwelmed. Go figure. Can't please me no matter what.

Hope everyone has a good holiday. I'm assuming my two sons will be here and I bought some stuffed chicken breasts at a local specialty shop to bake. My oldest never lets me know if he's coming or not until the last minute, shows up an hour or two later than he says he'll come, and has to leave before dark. I should be used to it by now. Even though he lives only 40 miles away, I only get to see him on Christmas, Thanksgiving and Mother's Day (maybe my birthday, but that's not a given). However, the youngest will come and stay overnight so he can follow me to the repair shop with my car. They say I may have to leave it a day or two and he says he'll stay as long as I need him. My granddaughter and ex-DIL are coming today and I said I would take them out for lunch. Granddaughter has to go to work for 4:00 p.m. and since she worked until midnight last night, they will probably be later getting here. I'm not sure we'll even have time for lunch, but we'll see. Middle son lives 3,000 miles away and has no phone of his own. I call is work number late at night from time to time to talk to him if he's there. Another granddaughter also lives 3,000 miles away and I'm sorry to say I've only actually seen her 5 or 6 times in her life (she's 21). I email her every so often and maybe get an answer once or twice a year. Makes me sad when I remember how close I was to my grandmother.

Don't mean to sound too negative, but sometimes I feel that I'm not just low down on everyone's list -- I'm not even on it! I remember old folks complaining about being alone and nobody caring about them. Guess I'm one of them now!

Let's hope this cold, wet weather goes away soon! I guess we should be glad we're healthy enough to do all this running around!

Hello Girls!

I often wonder if my daughter will be able to do half of what I do when she is my age. Like driving 4 hours up to the SF Bay Area in that hideous traffic. YUK They live in the midst of it now. Oh well, the years will tell the story. LOL

Hope you two have a wonderful Christmas. Yes, I will be driving up to my daughter's &i SIL. Can't wait to see my twin grandbabies (not yet 3). They are soooo sweet and smart. They are the only 2 grandkids on both sides. My daughter is an only and her husband is also an only. Can you imagine how spoiled the twins will be. The trunk in my car is stuffed with gifts for them.

Enjoy the holiday girls!! Not totally sure if I will be going to Quartzsite. Started organizing checkbook figures for taxes this evening and hope to get that done in the next couple of weeks. Now, if I would do it as I go along throughout the year then it wouldn't be such a big job. Oh well.

We're still the only ones that post here.

was in the midst of typing up a reply and went to put in a smiley face and realised I had been dumped off the net! now who knows what I was saying...

it's hard to not create a whine party isn't it??? struggling with that this year...had I had the money to do so think I would have gone North for Christmas today was my uncles funeral would have been a really good reason to go...and not have to claim missing the family and not wanting to be alone...Monday will mark the 6 month since Larry passed away not sure I'm up to being away from family but what else can I do???

and yes we have to wonder what the future for our kids will be what they will choose to do....just as we chose todo....

Linda so hope that you will make it to Q

you all have a very merry Christmas

Shiela - Would it be possible for you to drive your truck up to visit your family? Or, you can just enjoy reading, watching a movie, etc. You could go to church also. If you feel the need to cry, then do so!

Merry Christmas to you all and Happy New Year too!!
