I'm glad things worked out, and your up and running!

Plus you will be able to recover data off your old computer's hard drive

You got that right...I can pull DATA off the old computer...but not programs...therefore I cannot transfer the Windows Mail program from the old computer to the new one...and it will not work on windows 7.. So...I'm using Thunderbird... and not caring for it much.

For some reason it doesn't save e-mails on it very long. I like to save my sent mail in the sent file until the next one comes in and i can read the old one and refresh my mind on what I told them last time...so I don't repeat myself. I will stay a while...and then it's gone.. It could be something I'm doing.

I'll manage--- but I'm not happy with the mail program.

have a good night and travel safe!

Joella

When I had to buy my new laptop in Florida, it also came with Windows 7.

Micro$oft has like 6 different flavors of this operating system! Mine came with "Home Premium 64bit edition". I don't care for this OP!

You can't run a lot of older software on it that worked fine on XP.

Joella, what version is on yours?

I understand that the more expensive versions like Professional, and Ultimate have a Windows XP compatible mode, so you can run your older programs.

Several years ago, I bought a new desktop PC that had Vista on it, and come to find out that my HP printer wouldn't work because Vista was also 64bit, and HP did not have the proper driver for the printer.

I had to go out and by a new printer! Needless to say, it wasn't a new HP.

I think that Micro$oft and the hardware manufacturers are in cahoots with each other to get you to buy things you don't need every couple of years!

I guess we will have to live with it

Charlene, I have the same Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit edition you do. Now that I've solved my Forum problems with clicking on Tools on this screen, then Clicking on Compatibility View and adding this Forum to the list---- I'm going to use that Compatibility factor to see if I can access other previous programs I've not been able to run on this Windows 7 machine.

Wish me luck!!

Joella,

I'm glad I could help

I'm not a computer wiz, but learned most of this from DH, and playing around with computers!

I have very few hours on the 7 laptop, because I only use it on the road.

When I get a chance I'll boot it up to look for this feature, because I read somewhere that only the other versions that cost more had the XP compatibillity feature but I guess I'm wrong.

Good Luck,

Charlene
