Anyone have big plans for the 4th of July holiday?

I will be having a cookout with family and we will have some fireworks in the backyard.

Here are a few pictures from last year.

I am going to Toledo Bend Lake with my sister. We usually go there for the 4th. The campground lets campers shoot fireworks off the boat launch so we can sit out and watch the show. You can see fireworks up and down the lake and across in Texas. I am just hoping that we can have fireworks because of the burn ban. I tried to take pictures of the fireworks but mine didn't come out. Need to try with my good camera.

My two grand daughters (Maggie, 9, and Hannah, 11) and I are headed to Fox Fire campground west of Charleston, WV, for four days. They have a sandy beach and a pond where they can swim and there is a small waterpark adjoining the campground. We are all three looking forward to our camping trip. They are good companions and still young enough to think Grandma is wonderful. (Hee Hee!)

Martha

That sounds like a wonderful weekend! I can imagine the fireworks looking beautiful over the lake. Have a great time! Would love to see your pictures. Fireworks are very hard to capture with the camera. I get lucky every now and again. I have been trying to capture lightning for years with no success.

Gypsysuzy, grandma will always be wonderful to them! How nice that you get to spend such quality time with them. Have you posted pictures of one of your camping trips here? I remember seeing some from a great girls camping trip. Have a good time with your granddaughters, sounds like a wonderful trip.

Hi Lynn,

Great firework photos!

Here in NY we are not allowed to have personal fireworks like that.

We are just going to stay home, and have a BBQ with some of our neighbors.

Besides, it becomes a circus around here(campers/ rafters on the river) as far as the heavy traffic, drunk kids, etc.

Better to stay off the roads!

Our son is hoping to come up one day of this weekend.. he lives 40 miles from us and has been planning to come up every weekend for the past month.... and ends up having to work.. He's not been a happy camper.

His daughter will come over too. She has been spending most of the last 3 days with us.. she works nights...sometimes 12 hours... sleeps a tad and comes over. The "bait" here is the 25' used travel trailer we helped her find... She needs a less expensive place to live... so she can handle her money better, not throw away money on rent...and wants to go back to college. It's parked here under our RV shed till we get it fixed up for her.. And until she gets all the deposit and security money gathered together to move into the park.

I've enjoyed my days of running and looking for bargains.. Even enjoyed today's chore of cleaning up the trailer.. Always fun when with family, whether in work or play!

I've not heard if we can have fireworks locally... but ALL the news I hear about anyone having fireworks displays in Texas is NO DEAL....So, I'm imagining that they will be banned here as well. Truthfully, I don't think it's a good idea to take a chance... We have had enough wildfires nearby and all over our state.

Some officials are suggesting Fireworks Celebrations be postponed until Labor Day. We are in the driest ever record since they've begun to keep tabs on rainfall. Surely we'll get some rain by then!

Enjoy your weekend all! Happy 4th!

Joella

Sorry Lynn, no pictures from me. One of these days I'll take the time to sit down and figure out how to post pictures - until then, everyone just has to use their imaginations with me.
