Here are some random pictures of some very nice houseboats.

Very nice! Had no idea that houseboats could be so upscale. Summers years ago, we would rent a houseboat along with friends on Shasta Lake in CA. We had so much fun. Now it's RV's - another way to enjoy.

Do you have the model of houseboat you would like picked out??

Whoa!! Elegante' I'd hate to see me all grungy and dead fish smelling going into MY houseboat like that!

Thanks for sharing....loved seeing the photos!

Happy Houseboat Hunting!

Thanks Joella.

We are hoping to buy one next spring. We are still recovering from paying for our son's highschool and college education.

Rufflesgurl we have been looking at the Myacht brands, but we are open to a good used one. Hard to find one in our price range. We will see how things are next spring.

That was my original thought of what I would like to do but then you are limited to the lake or wherever you are. More so than an RV. I guess you can move to another location but wouldn't you have to hire a trailer to get you there. Maybe someday if I can't drive the RV anymore!

Vblake42, yes you are limited to one lake and do have the option of having it moved to another lake, which would be expensive. However if you went to a larger lake there are many marinas that you could move to and explore the lake from each location. There are some lakes that connect to the intercoastal waterway so you can travel a great distance, through many states. But you would need a riverboat type houseboat to do that with. The riverboat houseboats have more engine power to deal with moving water.

Sheila, these pictures are from the bigger and very expensive houseboats. Most of the houseboats are smaller than these, more to the size of an RV. But I agree they are very nice and if money wasn't a problem I would love to have one :)

I'm sure that if we hadn't had to consider money and the truck that we couldn't replace to pull something different we would have had a different type as well...but at the same time I really like my home and at the moment can't imagine living elsewhere

I like the idea of living on a houseboat. When I was married, my husband and I considered moving onto a houseboat or sailboat. Houseboats are popular in my neck of the woods.
